Develop and apply system expertise to refine and develop M&D monitoring products, demonstrating clear understanding of operational principles, design and usage.
Provide technical leadership within Scaled Agile Framework projects, working in close collaboration with other leaders, business owners and team members within the Agile Release Train.
Provide technical leadership within NPI (new product introduction) projects on M&D Monitors.
Provide technical design leadership on product and feature development projects spanning hardware and firmware changes and leading the team in design decisions.
Identify and contribute to product design requirements, improvements and best practice in system design and process.
Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges, using first principles thinking to diagnose failures and optimize system behaviour.
Develop and maintain clear, structured, and traceable documentation, ensuring effective communication of design decisions and alignment with product requirements.
Work collaboratively within diverse international and cross-functional teams which may include occasional international travel, training and mentorship of other team members.
Apply lean engineering principles such as SQDC, standard work, and structured problem-solving techniques in daily work.
Apply GE Vernova way principles in day-to-day work with a safety-first mindset.
Carry out additional duties as requested by the line manager.
Required Qualifications:
Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
Leading technical teams developing customer-focussed technical solutions and innovations on complex electromechanical and sensor-based products in an industrial setting
Communicating complex technical matters clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Ability to effectively document and communicate design decisions to drive clarity across stakeholders.
Defining and delivering hardware, firmware, and software design requirements
Experience and development of system and product diagnostics, state diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
Applying and improving best practices in the product development lifecycle
Collaborating with large, cross-functional and diverse teams, including remote environments to align on key design decisions
Ability to navigate conflicting opinions within the team to arrive at design decisions based on best practice and data
Ensuring and prioritising safety in industrial system design and laboratory/test environments
Demonstrating accountability for key project commitments, both as an individual and as team member
Understanding of Agile or Scaled Agile development frameworks
Willingness to learn and explore new systems/products to attain best understanding of design and application
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
Experience in transformer diagnostics such as dissolved gas analysis, bushing monitoring, thermal modelling, etc.
Experience in design, development and testing of firmware or software images
Experience in design, development and test of electronics or electro-mechanical systems
Experience working with industrial communications and protocols within a substation or wider grid network
Experience working in Agile or Scaled Agile development frameworks
Applying lean methodologies in an engineering setting
