Why This Role Matters

The purpose of this role is to minimise risk to JERA Nex bp by ensuring that policies are appropriate and consistently applied across the business — supporting commercial progress while enhancing compliance integrity.

As part of the Legal and Compliance Team, the Senior Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in enabling JERA Nex bp to develop, own, and operate offshore wind projects globally in a compliant, ethical, and responsible manner.

This role reports to the SVP Legal.

In This Role You Will

As Senior Compliance Manager (C/M), you will blend legal and regulatory expertise with strategic thinking, ethical leadership, and effective communication. Your mission is to establish, maintain, and embed compliance and ethical standards across a growing, international energy organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain compliance frameworks
  • Manage key compliance projects and initiatives as part of building the compliance function.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Promote ethical conduct
  • Embed a culture of integrity throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, subsidiaries, and affiliates to promote strong ethical behaviour and compliance awareness.
• Manage risk
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks linked to non-compliance or unethical practices.
  • Support the business in proactive risk management and internal control design.
• Provide advice and training
  • Develop and deliver regular training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and consultants.
  • Educate teams on ethical standards, compliance policies, and reporting procedures.
• Monitor and ensure compliance
  • Track regulatory developments and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Monitor compliance systems related to business separation, ethics, anti-bribery, corruption, and other key areas.
• Lead compliance reporting and communication
  • Compile and deliver transparent compliance reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for compliance queries and concerns.
  • Manage the investigation and resolution of reported breaches of ethics or compliance.
  • Oversee compliance risk assessments, audits, and investigations, ensuring timely follow-up and lessons learned.

• Staying abreast of frequent regulatory changes in the energy sector.
• Ensuring organization-wide compliance across multiple departments, geographies, and levels.
• Engaging effectively with senior leadership and the Board on compliance and risk management matters.

Job Requirements

Skills and Experience

• Legal and regulatory expertise
  • In-depth understanding of laws and regulations, including competition law, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, export controls, third-party risk management, and conflict of interest policies.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret compliance requirements, assess risks, and design effective control measures.
• Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to explain complex compliance issues in clear, business-relevant language.
  • Skilled in building trust and collaboration across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Leadership and organizational skills
  • Capable of influencing at all levels, including senior leadership and the Board.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, manage, and execute multiple compliance-related initiatives.
• Additional capabilities
  • Proficiency in identifying trends and improving compliance systems and controls.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and related compliance matters.

Education and Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Audit, Business, Finance, or Law.
• Master’s degree in Regulatory Compliance (or equivalent) is desirable.
• 10+ years of Ethics & Compliance experience, ideally within a regulated industry.
• Experience in the energy sector is advantageous.
• Proven track record in developing compliance programs, conducting training, managing risk assessments, and liaising with regulatory authorities.
