The Impact Assessment practice is part of AECOM’s Environment business, which brings together over 730 professionals across the UK and Ireland. The team delivers environmental and sustainability solutions to both public and private sector clients — helping to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies through practical, evidence-based approaches.

The Environment business includes expertise in the following areas:

Our Impact Assessment and Planning (IAPA) team works on a wide range of projects, including:

• Coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs for infrastructure developments seeking development consent.
• Supporting clients and design teams to identify environmental constraints, mitigate impacts, and deliver positive environmental outcomes.
• Preparing environmental assessment reports and related documentation.
• Providing post-consent support, including during project construction and operation phases.

Key Projects

AECOM is at the forefront of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) delivery for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) that shape the UK’s sustainable future. Key projects include work in:

• Sustainable energy generation and transmission.
• Water supply and distribution infrastructure.
