What You Will Be Doing
Step into a dynamic leadership role where your voice, vision, and expertise will shape the future of energy distribution.
As part of the SPD Technical Support team, you’ll be at the centre of collaboration — communicating across departments, mentoring apprentices, and driving the development of our distribution price control strategy.
You’ll lead the charge in building a strong safety culture, managing operational tasks with precision, and steering business change to deliver high performance and service excellence.
In this role, you will:
Coach and empower the Protection & Control team, ensuring delivery of key targets and implementing robust training plans to future-proof our workforce.
Work closely with the Operational Control Centre (OCC) to maximise access opportunities and enhance network performance.
Use your technical expertise to drive system optimisation and ensure operational excellence.
Play an active role in pioneering the Digital Substations Project, implementing innovative technologies at both Station Bus and Process Bus levels.
This is more than just a job — it’s your opportunity to lead, innovate, and energise the future of energy distribution.
What You Will Bring
We’re looking for a seasoned professional with deep operational experience in Distribution Protection and SCADA systems, ready to take on a high-impact leadership role.
You’ll bring:
Strong knowledge of Energy Networks policies, health and safety legislation, and network development procedures.
Advanced understanding of network and business data systems, commercial and regulatory frameworks, and contract/SLA management.
Excellent customer service, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive innovation across multiple functions.
You may hold an engineering degree (ideally working toward Chartered status) or possess significant industry experience that demonstrates your technical and leadership capabilities.
A valid driving licence and strong IT systems proficiency are essential, as you’ll be working across multiple sites and platforms.
If you’re passionate about shaping the future of energy distribution and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment — this is the role for you.
