As a Senior Engineer Structures
As a Senior Engineer Structures at Damen Naval, you will play a key role in the engineering and design of advanced naval vessels. You will independently execute complex structural engineering activities and guide colleagues within the team. From concept to detailed design, you ensure that every part of the ship’s structure meets the highest standards for strength, manufacturability, maintainability, and safety.

You will create and develop 3D models of ship structures, construction plans, sections, and foundation drawings using state-of-the-art 2D and 3D PLM tools. Working closely with structural analysts and engineers from other disciplines, you will ensure that all designs are well-integrated, technically sound, and compliant with naval and class regulations.

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Developing 3D models of ship structures, construction plans, section and foundation drawings, and outer deck arrangements
• Executing and coordinating structural engineering activities in 2D and 3D PLM environments (such as 3DExperience) within agreed schedules, quality standards, and budgets
• Independently managing complex (parts of) projects and coordinating outsourced detailed engineering scopes when applicable
• Guiding and supporting other engineers and contributing to knowledge sharing within the department
• Advising on technical challenges, proposing improvements, and actively contributing to multidisciplinary design reviews
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and standards for naval and commercial vessels
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of yard and project standards and departmental processes

Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in a technical field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge of structures engineering, preferably for ships or offshore installations
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D PLM tools, ideally 3DX
• Proven expertise in structures engineering, particularly in complex projects involving statutory bodies, vendors, and subcontractors
• Strong track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects
