UTEC is looking to recruit a Survey Engineer / Senior Survey Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis. Survey Engineers are responsible for ensuring that all engineering work carried out on site is conducted in the best interests of UTEC and the Client, and meets all project safety, contractual, and quality requirements. They also ensure that all equipment received to the vessel is configured correctly, and that calibrations and certifications are maintained up to date.

This role is based offshore and will require local and international travel to support UTEC operations. Periods of onshore support may also be required, working either remotely or from UTEC offices/workshops.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Configure sensor pinout/wiring diagrams, interfacing equipment and sensors through survey vehicles into the online system
• Demonstrate understanding of commonly used electronic symbols and wiring principles
• Set up a dedicated survey network and interface survey sensors to online systems
• Manage data protocols using survey sensors, including serial 232, 422, 485 protocols, Ethernet communications, and fibre optics
• Set up video distribution onboard vessels
• Solve and fault-find equipment issues, demonstrating logical problem-solving practices
• Make up and terminate all types of cabling using specific tools for interfacing, antenna cabling, network cabling, serial cabling, video cabling, and ROV/survey sensor cabling
• Create vessel wiring diagrams and setup notes in relevant software packages
• Maintain, service, and calibrate equipment used in offshore survey operations
• Keep vessel inventories, manifests, and equipment certifications up to date
• Operate online software during survey operations
• Conduct personnel performance reviews/appraisals for direct reports

Requirements

• Education in Electronics / Engineering
• Relevant industry, military, or academic experience in survey-related disciplines
• Completion of Senior Engineer Competencies, or satisfactory completion of the competence criteria for Survey Engineer Grade I, and essential competence criteria for Survey Engineer
• 24 months’ experience, including at least 200 operational days offshore as Survey Engineer Grade I
