Principal Health Safety Consultant – CDM 2015 Compliance
Join AECOM as a Principal Health Safety Consultant and play a vital role under CDM 2015 Regulations 4 and 5 (Client Duties). Your core responsibility will be to establish, manage, and review project safety arrangements to ensure health and safety risks are effectively controlled across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure client-side governance and assurance of CDM Duty Holder roles.
Coordinate and integrate Principal Designer (PD) and Principal Contractor (PC) activities across the programme.
Develop, maintain, and communicate the CDM Strategy.
Conduct competence assessments/audits (Skills/Knowledge/Experience) for the appointment of designers and contractors.
Collect and manage Pre-Construction Information (PCI), including surveys, as-built drawings, and health & safety files.
Drive collaboration using digital platforms to manage Safety in Design processes.
Identify and coordinate significant CDM risks.
Create KPI sets for Pre-Construction and Construction phases and report performance to the Client.
Provide expert CDM advice and ensure CDM obligations are met programme-wide.
Monitor design-related CDM hazards via design risk reviews and manage a Programme CDM Risk Log.
Independently audit PD duties including design reviews, residual risk registers, PCI, and health & safety file development.
Independently audit PC duties including Construction Phase Plans, site safety, logistics, and subcontractor management.
Who We’re Looking For:
Professionally qualified – ideally Graduate member of IOSH.
Member of the Association for Project Safety (APS).
Strong understanding of CDM 2015 regulations, risk management, and safety in design.
Experience in leading cross-disciplinary teams and ensuring compliance on large-scale programmes.
