Your role at AECOM

As a Senior Lighting Engineer of our Lighting Team, you’ll influence infrastructure projects from concept through to delivery. You will provide technical leadership and ensure lighting design excellence throughout the full project lifecycle – from feasibility studies and concept development to detailed design and construction support.

We work with diverse clients across the public and private sectors, including local authorities, transport, and rail sectors.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and manage engineering tasks, define scopes, and deliver innovative lighting solutions.

• Advise on technical challenges, offering expertise across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.

• Design complete lighting systems – from concept to implementation – including:

  • Site visits

  • Lighting layout design

  • Private cable calculations

  • CAD drawings

  • Lighting specifications and BoQs

  • Coordination with DNO suppliers

• Ensure Quality by managing budget, project timelines, and design standards across transport and landscape schemes.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve integrated, sustainable design outcomes.

What we’re looking for:

• Relevant qualifications such as an ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent

• Proven experience in lighting design

• Proficiency in tools such as Lighting Reality, AGi32, Dialux, and Amtech Pro Design

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Project management experience: budget control, resource planning, and client engagement
