Planning Work Placement – Gain Practical Planning Experience with Dornan

Take the first step in your construction planning career with Dornan’s Planning Work Placement Programme. As a Planning Student, you will receive hands-on training under the guidance of a Senior Planner, working on real, live construction projects.

Our curated internship is designed to provide you with practical experience in project planning and controls, helping you reach your full potential in the role.

Programme Duration

• Start: June 2026

• End: August 2026

• Length: Approximately 3 months

Your Responsibilities

As part of the planning team, you will support with:

• Setting up Project Control Systems:

  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

  • Progress Measurement System (PMS)

  • Project Schedules, S-Curves & Manpower Histograms

  • Cost-loading and baselining schedules

• Implementing and maintaining these systems throughout the project

• Progress tracking of direct and subcontracted works using Dornan’s custom PMS

• Monitoring labour hours and analysing productivity

• Updating project schedules using Primavera P6 or ASTA Powerproject

• Tracking system turnover and deliverables

• Identifying delays and assisting with client notifications

What We’re Looking For

• Students pursuing a degree in Construction Management or a related discipline

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and interest in project planning
