Interface Engineer – MEPHFC NEW

Job description

As a Systems Interface Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth flow and exchange of design and construction information across the project. Working closely with the Interface Manager, Design, and Construction teams, you will contribute to the integrated and optimised MEPHFC Systems Engineering of the Old Oak Common HS2 major railway station.

Your work will ensure the accuracy of all interface-related documentation, evidence of interface management, and compliance with engineering assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively and interface with internal and external engineering design and construction teams
• Develop, manage, and update the AJV Interface Register
• Assist in producing Interface Give-Get Forms, Requests for Information (RFI), and Interface Control Documents (ICD)
• Arrange, attend, and participate in internal and external interface meetings
• Review reports, drawings, and design calculations as part of the interface process
• Take ownership of and resolve interface queries from other interfacing parties
• Track all incoming and outgoing interface documentation, ensuring that all team members and subcontractors are duly notified
• Collaborate with all AJV engineering disciplines to review design proposals from interfacing parties, assess impacts, provide comments, confirm acceptance, and manage integration
• Serve as a technical representative at interface meetings concerning Civils, MEPHFC, and rail systems enquiries
• Interface with disciplines such as Telecoms, BEMS, Electrical Distribution, Ventilation, Public Health, OCS, Earthing & Bonding, Civils, Structure, and Architecture
• Assist in preparing and delivering weekly and monthly reports on interface status and KPIs
• Support the management of Station MEPHFC Systems Interface and Integration for both design and construction phases
• Manage relationships within Anthro, with other subcontractors, and with the client

What Do We Need From You

Essential Criteria

• Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g., BEng in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering) or equivalent (e.g., HND/HNC)
• 5–8 years of experience in multi-disciplinary engineering within an environment with multiple complex interfaces
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software
• Quality-focused with a methodical working style and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
• Adaptable, proactive, and positive approach in a dynamic environment
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Experience working in the railway industry, with knowledge of relevant UK legislation and standards

Desirable (Not Essential, but Highly Advantageous)

• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and/or working towards Chartership (CEng) of a related institution (e.g., IET, IMechE, or ICE)
• Technical expertise in at least one systems discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Civils) with a good working knowledge of others and of the integrated railway system
• Knowledge and experience of using software such as BIM and CAD
• Experience working in a complex, safety-focused, and regulated environment such as high-speed rail or major infrastructure projects
