Why This Role Matters

You will join us as a Senior Telecoms Engineer in the SCADA & Telecoms Department.

In this position, you’ll work closely with Electrical, Cables, and SCADA engineers, as well as our O&M and Digital teams, to enable robust, long-range, and secure telecommunication systems for our offshore wind assets.

You will play a key role in project development, ensuring that safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions are designed and deployed across our global offshore wind portfolio.

In This Role, You Will:

• Design, specify, review, and deliver radio/telecoms systems for offshore wind farms.
• Evaluate, select, and integrate radio technologies including LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, LoRa, UHF/VHF, and proprietary RF solutions.
• Contribute to a central engineering function for offshore wind projects.
• Work in an agile environment, supporting projects, offshore wind operations, and team initiatives.
• Manage contractor and vendor deliveries.
• Oversee the implementation and testing of selected telecoms solutions.
• Ensure design and implementation of telecoms systems comply with international standards.
• Attend supplier factory acceptance tests (FATs) and represent the company in offsite meetings.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure efficient design integration and effective interface management.
• Collaborate with local and global colleagues across the organization.
• Provide support and consultancy to internal teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Work closely with procurement, quality, and project engineering teams.
• Mentor junior or graduate engineers, fostering technical growth and development.
• Prioritize tasks and monitor progress to meet project schedules and budgets.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Radio, or a related discipline (Chartered Engineer or MSc preferred).
• Strong knowledge of wireless communication protocols, digital signal processing, and RF systems.
• Familiarity with antenna design, propagation modelling, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• High technical expertise in telecoms engineering — offshore wind experience is a strong plus.
• Proven experience in delivering major infrastructure projects.
• Deep technical understanding of discipline requirements, standards, interfaces, and constraints necessary for project development and design.
• Strong appreciation of the commercial implications of technical decisions and the ability to maximize overall project value.
• Experience negotiating technical aspects of control system contracts and managing relationships with key suppliers.
• A friendly, self-motivated, and proactive approach with the ability to take initiative.
