Job description

Your mission
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Reporting to the Commercial Manager.
  • Liaising with the operations team and support services.
  • Managing a commercial team of varying levels across multiple schemes.
  • Overseeing commercial project management on multiple schemes, ensuring timely provision of:
    • Monthly cost value reconciliations, cashflow monitoring, and forecasts (monthly and quarterly).
    • Monthly applications for payment.
    • Change management and variation control.
  • Managing and mentoring members of the commercial team as required.
  • Participating in discussions on project performance and providing commercial input to project strategy.
  • Working collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to achieve optimum commercial solutions.
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence to project and company commercial procedures, including procurement and subcontract management.
  • Providing commercial input during the Pre-Construction/Tender phase of projects.
  • Managing ECI projects or a portfolio of ECI schemes from a commercial perspective, including reviewing contract documents.

Who are we looking for?

Necessary:

  • Previous experience managing a team, ideally across multiple projects.
  • Proven experience on civil engineering schemes.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC form of Contract.
  • Thorough knowledge of contractual provisions, with the ability to review, comment on, and draft documentation.
  • Relevant qualification – Degree, HNC, or HND.

Advantageous:

  • Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) experience.
  • Experience of target cost contracts.
  • Strong client-facing and collaborative attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Relevant professional qualification (CICES or RICS).
