Job description

As a Design Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of large-scale construction projects, with a particular focus on hyperscale Data Centres. Reporting to the Design Manager or Senior Contracts Manager, you will act as a central link between design, project, and site teams—ensuring technical accuracy, coordination, and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• 3rd-level qualification in Architectural, Project, or Construction Management
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience working on hyperscale Data Centre projects
• Excellent IT and communication skills
• Ability to navigate BIM models and relevant design software
• Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work as part of a high-performance team
• Proven time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
• Commitment to fostering a strong on-site safety culture through clear communication, safe practices, and proactive engagement

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Design Manager in maintaining effective communication and coordination between Architects, Structural Engineers, and Service Engineers, ensuring alignment with site teams
• Ensure any design development is communicated to the Contracts Management and QS teams, considering financial implications
• Maintain a strong sense of commercial and contractual awareness throughout project execution
• Coordinate and track the submittal and approval process for designs and materials, ensuring timely Client Representative sign-off
• Verify that approved submittals align with the BIM team’s model, and assist in resolving any discrepancies
• Support the BIM team in addressing design issues and ensure all coordination is complete before model freeze
• Manage subcontractors to ensure works are executed in compliance with design intent and approved submittals
• Contribute to the development of look-ahead plans and monitor progress against programme milestones
• Maintain a broad knowledge of the construction industry, including BCAR, TGD, environmental, health, and safety regulations
• Arrange and attend site meetings, recording and distributing minutes as required
• Handle all internal and external communication with professionalism and confidentiality
• Track construction progress, approvals, and material lead times to ensure alignment with agreed schedules and subcontractor start dates
• Oversee the preparation, submission, and approval of O&M and handover documentation in line with project timelines
• Support the aftercare team in resolving post-handover design issues
• Ensure compliance with local authority and building control requirements, securing all necessary approvals
• Work closely with the quality team to ensure all benchmarks, inspections, and checks meet design specifications
• Collaborate with the project document controller to ensure document management processes are efficient and up to date
• Promote and foster the company’s core values and contribute to a culture of wellness and safety at work
• Coordinate with MEP teams to ensure full integration of works where disciplines interface, particularly within CSA scope
