Direct Procurement Buyer

Job description

For the company specializes in the production and servicing of steam turbines for the nuclear energy sector, supporting power plants worldwide, we are looking for an experienced Direct Procurement Buyer to support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing direct materials and components, supplier negotiation, and supply chain optimization. This role involves both transactional purchasing and strategic supplier management to ensure cost efficiency, timely delivery, and high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Procurement of direct materials and components required for manufacturing operations.
• Supplier negotiation on cost, lead times, and performance improvement.
• Managing the end-to-end procurement process, from RFQ to PO creation and delivery.
• Expediting purchase orders and ensuring on-time delivery of critical materials.
• Handling supplier escalations and proactively resolving any supply chain issues.
• Maintaining supplier master data and ensuring compliance with internal procurement policies.
• Collaborating with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to align purchasing with operational needs.
• Managing invoice disputes and AP holds, ensuring timely resolution.
• Generating weekly reports on order status, supplier performance, and cost savings initiatives.
• Working across multiple procurement platforms, including SAP, MTA, and web-based procurement tools.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in direct procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to challenge suppliers on pricing, lead time, and quality.
• Experience in handling supplier escalations and resolving supply chain bottlenecks.
• Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems for purchase order management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in cost optimization and KPI reporting.
• Excellent communication skills for supplier and internal stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to participate in and lead project meetings related to procurement and supply chain operations.
