Your role in the story
As Second Marine Electrical Specialist, you keep the vessel’s installations in optimal condition by detecting, repairing, and reporting functional defects in electrical equipment and automation systems. You are a real trouble-shooter who can also guide and assist the machine room staff with maintenance tasks in the engine room and on deck. You conduct condition-based monitoring to prevent equipment breakdowns and carry out functional tests on safety and emergency stop systems. Furthermore, you prepare job safety analyses and contribute to toolbox meetings.What you will be working on
- Maintaining equipment and electrical systems according to the maintenance program in the engine room, bridge (DP systems, satellite systems, etc.), accommodation (air conditioning, lifts), galley, cranes, and other deck equipment such as forklifts and impact hammers
- Detecting, reporting, and solving electrical malfunctions in systems, circuits, and equipment
- Guiding subcontractors with troubleshooting and carrying out repairs
- Performing low-voltage switching, electrical isolation, and overrides
- Assisting during construction work by operating electrical systems and providing facilities
- Providing input on the performance of electrical engineering staff such as new hires and trainees
- Conducting Job Safety Analyses and Toolbox Talks
Key ingredients for success
- A minimum Vocational or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a diploma from a Maritime College
- At least 2 years of offshore experience with electro-technical ship installations
- Experience with DP vessels (preferably holding a Kongsberg certificate)
- Knowledge of MS Office, ERP systems, and preferably CAD tools
- Result-oriented mindset and excellent teamwork skills
- Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
