About the position of Junior Mechanic Research & Development

With your skill in building mechanical and electrical test setups, you will contribute to the quality of our technical innovations.As a Junior R&D Mechanic, you enjoy a hands-on approach and working with engineers and mechanics from different projects and disciplines. You will be working in Huisman’s laboratory. Here, we have various test setups that enable us to answer technical questions. We build prototypes or use permanent setups for our research.You will be responsible for the workshop, the machines, and the test setups. You will have to maintain and modify the test setups or build new ones. You will prepare tests, perform basic testing activities, and ensure a safe environment and safe machines.Issues for R&D arise during the pre-sales and engineering phase, but also during production, commissioning, and maintenance.Huisman’s projects are large and complex and can amount to more than fifty million euros. What do we expect of you?

As a Junior Mechanic R&D, you will be responsible for setting up, commissioning, and executing test plans in our laboratory. You enjoy a practical approach and can easily collaborate with our R&D Engineers. This means you will be responsible for:

• The workshop, machines, and test setups;
• Building and maintaining test machines;
• Commissioning and calibrating the test setup;
• Performing tests and solving operational problems;
• Informing colleagues about progress and test results of the expected quality.

You have:

• At least an MBO 3 level diploma, preferably in Mechanical Engineering;
• You can weld, turn, and mill;
• You can read drawings (2D/3D) and diagrams (E&H);
• You have experience with AutoCAD and MS Office;
• Knowledge of electrical engineering, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an advantage;
• An affinity for conducting experiments and collecting data;
• An eye for detail;
• The ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and set priorities;
