SCADA engineer

Job description

From the outside, you see steel, cables and installations. But what makes it all work together lies in the control systems. As a SCADA Engineer at Iv, you will develop the systems behind our offshore substations.

You will be responsible for the detailed design and implementation of SCADA systems within major wind energy projects. In this role, you set up complete networks and communication structures, ensuring installations operate safely, reliably and are future-proof. Each design incorporates aspects such as redundancy, optimisation and data handling, translating technical requirements into practical, buildable solutions.

You will work closely with specialists in areas such as:

• electrical engineering
• automation
• cybersecurity

As a SCADA Engineer, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams consisting of 5 to 10 people. You coordinate technical matters with the project manager and report on other aspects to the discipline manager. You will join the instrumentation engineering team, which consists of approximately 30 colleagues. The working atmosphere is international and results-driven, combining global expertise with the hands-on, can-do mentality typical of Rotterdam.

What do we expect from you?

We expect you to have:

• a BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or Computer Engineering
• a minimum of five years of experience working with SCADA systems
• experience with engineering activities within the EPC process, such as datasheets, specifications, TBE and FAT, as well as detailed engineering for greenfield projects

Preferably, you also have:

• additional certifications or training in SCADA systems (e.g. Siemens, GE, ABB)
• knowledge of industrial communication protocols or network technology

In addition, you:

• are solution-oriented and able to work independently while taking ownership of your work
• have strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English
