Senior Marine Designer

Job description

As a Senior Marine Designer at Nevesbu, you are in the right place if you enjoy diversity and technically complex challenges that cannot simply be solved off the shelf. At times, you will work on large-scale multidisciplinary projects; at other times, on smaller but more intensive assignments. Your role is crucial to the geometric design of marine systems for naval vessels, floating offshore units and special vessels.

You will be responsible for piping routing and modelling. You act as a sparring partner for the Lead Engineer, supervise Junior Engineers and actively contribute your ideas and perspectives on the growth and development of the discipline.

From submarines and frigates to unique floating offshore energy applications, Nevesbu operates as a naval architecture and marine engineering company on some of the most unique and technically challenging maritime projects worldwide. We are active in the following markets:

• submarines
• naval vessels
• floating offshore energy
• special vessels

Nevesbu has extensive in-house expertise across all these disciplines and provides consultancy and engineering services throughout all project phases, from initial feasibility studies to complete design, engineering and site supervision. Examples of unique projects and innovations include the upkeep of the Dutch Walrus-class submarines for the Ministry of Defence, the lifespan extension of Malaysian frigates and an innovative concept for a floating transformer platform.

What do we expect from you?

We expect you to have:

• a relevant vocational qualification (MBO), for example from the Scheepvaart en Transport College
• specialist knowledge of concept and basic design
• at least 5 years of experience in shipbuilding, specifically with Cadmatic
• deep technical understanding; the profession holds no secrets for you

In addition, you:

• enjoy pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible and know how to implement innovations
• enjoy working on a diverse range of projects and are not afraid of challenges
• are able to understand the project context and maintain an overview of the bigger picture
• are driven to continuously improve and innovate
• have a good command of the Dutch language

A VGB-B security screening may be part of the application procedure.

The current location is Alblasserdam; however, Nevesbu will relocate to Rotterdam (Admiraliteitskade 62, 3063 ED) in March 2026.
