Job description

We have an opportunity for a Design Manager on a major data centre project in Dublin.  In this role the expectation will be to lead the design engineering team and coordinate design submissions will provide succinct solutions to the client’s needs.

An ambitious and outgoing design manager with a  demonstrated history working within the construction industry on major projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate with the client’s design team for project build and site-wide design and services
• Coordinate Winthrop design teams and external design consultants, ensuring design development stays on schedule to support construction progress
• Plan and lead design & engineering workshops with in-house and external discipline engineers to resolve issues ahead of site activities
• Manage the Technical Submittal (TS) process, ensuring specifications are adhered to and submissions allow sufficient time for review, comment, and follow-up
• Manage the design query process, raise issues in weekly workshops, and follow up with RFIs; escalate changes to change management as required
• Manage IFC releases and updates, ensuring coordination with the design team and Winthrop engineers; escalate design changes as needed
• Lead weekly Design/Engineering meetings with internal and external teams to review engineering progress and expedite or escalate urgent items
• Maintain a design risk register, keeping Winthrop senior management and the client informed of potential program risks
• Manage the design and submittal process for the FFE package in the admin buildings to ensure on-time delivery
• Report design & engineering progress in weekly client meetings, highlighting concerns or risks
• Coordinate contractor construction drawings and models, ensuring timely approval for construction progress
• Manage contractors’ as-built drawings and models, ensuring timely submissions per project requirements and planned handover
• Ensure contractors submit all required documentation, including O&M manuals, to approved client platforms
• Manage and coordinate LEED requirements, liaising with client design teams and external LEED consultants; generate monthly progress reports
• Ensure project quality plans are submitted and QA procedures implemented; liaise on temporary works, traffic management designs, and design risk assessments
• Coordinate OFCI vendors appointed by the client, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with specifications, and resolution of discrepancies

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years’ experience delivering large-scale projects, including office fit-outs, retail, hotels, schools, and data centres
• Data centre project experience is advantageous
• Degree-level education in a relevant construction discipline preferred
• Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
