Senior Automation Engineer \u2013 Damen Naval<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the Senior Automation Engineer<\/strong> at Damen Naval, you will play a major role in ensuring that state-of-the-art naval vessels are built and commissioned with fully operational automated systems, compliant with strict regulations and requirements. You will develop the automation concept<\/strong> for complex processes, covering a wide range of systems onboard the vessel.<\/p>\n

Depending on the vessel\u2019s configuration, your automation design could encompass a host of strategic defensive and deterrent systems. Your designs will feature state-of-the-art automation functionality, enabling the crew to control and monitor all shipboard systems efficiently<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You will work according to the V-model<\/strong> in our 3DExperience engineering environment<\/strong>, ensuring that both basic and detailed designs are thoroughly reviewed, tested, and verified during the design and build phases. The culmination of your work is the launch of a new naval vessel<\/strong>, ready to defend freedom worldwide.<\/p>\n

\n

Key Accountabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Develop functional descriptions<\/strong> and other basic engineering documents and drawings for the ship\u2019s automated processes.<\/li>\n
  • Develop and maintain specification documents<\/strong> for all automation components and installation processes.<\/li>\n
  • Write detailed test and validation plans<\/strong> to ensure compliance with Class regulations and customer requirements during virtual testing (simulations) and real-world testing (FAT, HAT, SAT).<\/li>\n
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors<\/strong>, ensuring timely contribution to the project.<\/li>\n
  • Review vendors\u2019 and subcontractors\u2019 designs and integrate them into the vessel\u2019s automation design.<\/li>\n
  • Develop and describe standards and working methods<\/strong> for detailed engineering and commissioning.<\/li>\n
  • Support proposal stages<\/strong> by developing conceptual designs of system automation.<\/li>\n
  • Provide technical support and commissioning activities<\/strong> for projects under contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Skills & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • 5+ years\u2019 experience<\/strong> in designing and installing complex automation systems (PLC\/SCADA), preferably in maritime, offshore, or aeronautical installations.<\/li>\n
    • Professional experience in complex, multidisciplinary projects<\/strong> involving multiple suppliers and subcontractors.<\/li>\n
    • Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)<\/strong> environments following the V-model.<\/li>\n
    • Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, Electrical Engineering<\/strong>, or a related discipline.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent references; security screening is required.<\/li>\n
    • Permanent EU citizenship and passport<\/strong> are mandatory. Candidates with EU work visa or dual EU\/non-EU nationality are not eligible due to the military nature of these projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
