The role will ensure the smooth, safe, and compliant running of depot operations. You will manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, and equipment used in highways maintenance, with key responsibilities including health and safety compliance, inventory management, and winter maintenance support. This role also involves acting as Fire Marshall and First Aider.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"2205\">\n<li data-start=\"645\" data-end=\"872\">As the Operations Co-ordinator, you will oversee the efficient receipt, inspection, and recording of deliveries, managing stock levels and supporting purchasing to ensure materials, tools, and PPE are available when needed.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"1104\">You will be responsible for the safe storage and distribution of key inventory items such as aggregates, grit salt, fuel, signage, and consumables, while maintaining accurate stock records and managing waste disposal processes.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1362\">Health and safety compliance is paramount, and you will ensure that hazardous substances are handled in line with COSHH regulations, maintain depot equipment in accordance with PUWER and LOLER standards, and carry out Fire Marshall and First Aid duties.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1612\">During the winter months, you will support gritting and winter maintenance operations by coordinating grit stock, vehicle servicing, and the dispatch of gritting vehicles, while being available for on-call duties including evenings and weekends.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1962\">You will also maintain a clean, organised, and safe depot environment, coordinate vehicle and plant maintenance, liaise with procurement and site teams for timely deliveries, participate in audits and inspections, and champion continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and lean practices to drive depot innovation and operational excellence.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1963\" data-end=\"2025\">You will perform any other operational duties as required.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2205\">Ensure all activities are undertaken with due regard for the environment, to prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements and minimise environmental impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ideal Candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2999\">\n<li data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2357\">The ideal candidate will have 2\u20133 years\u2019 experience in storekeeping or logistics in highways, civil engineering, or construction.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2478\">You\u2019ll have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under pressure.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2479\" data-end=\"2618\">A good understanding of road maintenance materials, COSHH, PUWER, and LOLER regulations is essential, along with basic computer skills.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2619\" data-end=\"2724\">Relevant certifications such as COSHH Awareness, First Aid, and Fire Marshall training are desirable.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2725\" data-end=\"2783\">Forklift or plant operation qualifications are a plus.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2784\" data-end=\"2924\">You\u2019ll be adaptable, safety-focused, and ready to work in a physically demanding depot environment, including winter maintenance duties.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2926\" data-end=\"2999\">A full UK driving licence and HGV Class 2 is essential for this role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Package Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here at Colas, we offer a great total compensation package, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3094\" data-end=\"3710\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<li data-start=\"3094\" data-end=\"3192\">An hourly rate between \u00a313.40 and \u00a314.60 (dependent on experience and licences) &#8211; monthly paid<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3193\" data-end=\"3261\">Our Colas Pension Scheme has combined contributions of up to 10%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3262\" data-end=\"3312\">Life Assurance Scheme which is x4 basic salary<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3313\" data-end=\"3373\">21 days annual leave per year inclusive of bank holidays<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3374\" data-end=\"3411\">Holiday Purchase &amp; Selling Scheme<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3461\">Hybrid Working Scheme (dependent on the role)<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3462\" data-end=\"3538\">Opportunities to study towards a fully funded Professional Qualification<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3539\" data-end=\"3586\">Ongoing personal \/ professional development<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3587\" data-end=\"3710\" data-is-last-node=\"\">Discounts on car leasing, holidays, cinema tickets, restaurants and much more through our online employee benefits portal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are seeking a Operations Co-ordinator based at the Bescot office, WS1 4NL.
