You will be based in one of our North West of England offices (Altrincham or Liverpool), supporting us in the delivery of a range of major infrastructure projects. We need a driven individual to support and grow our capabilities in providing strategic advice and securing planning approvals and consents across a range of sectors, including rail, defence, energy generation, energy and water infrastructure, climate resilience, education, health, housing, employment, mixed-use regeneration and waste focused schemes.<\/p>\n<p>You will be responsible for supporting and helping to drive the growth of our Northern Planning Team, based in the North West of England (either in our Liverpool or Altrincham office). Developing relationships with colleagues across the business, you will have a particular focus on forging links and growing opportunities within your region. You will be working alongside the full range of technical disciplines Mott MacDonald offers on some of the largest, most complex, challenging and exciting infrastructure and development projects in the UK. These will cover multiple sectors including energy, water, transport and the built and natural environment, for clients including Network Rail, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), United Utilities, National Highways, National Grid, Environment Agency, NHS, Government Departments such as the Department for Education (DfE) and a range of local authorities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key responsibilities and duties include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Working as part of the planning team to deliver a range of planning projects, including working alongside and potentially project managing and leading other disciplines as part of a multi-disciplinary delivery team<\/li>\n<li>Writing and reviewing planning deliverables to a very high standard. This includes the development of high level options appraisals, producing consenting strategies, planning policy preparation, providing clear and accurate consenting advice, preparing and reviewing documents for planning applications, TWAOs, DCOs and other consents<\/li>\n<li>Leading and co-ordinating the preparation of planning applications, including managing the inputs from more junior members of staff, colleagues from across the business and sub-consultants<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with Local Planning Authorities \/ Statutory Consultees as necessary to ensure applications are registered and determined within a timely manner<\/li>\n<li>Preparing inputs and potentially leading bids for new work<\/li>\n<li>Supporting more junior members of staff in their chartership and professional development<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the growth of the Northern Planning team in respect of developing the team within the region, liaising with current and potential clients for the business and raising the profile of the planning team both internally and externally across the region<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Candidate specification<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree and\/or Masters in Town Planning<\/li>\n<li>Extensive town planning experience<\/li>\n<li>Chartered Member of the RTPI<\/li>\n<li>Experience of preparing and submitting planning applications, drafting reports, feasibility studies, masterplans and regeneration strategies<\/li>\n<li>Experience of working with a range of client bodies including both private sector and public sector<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience of, and having an active role in the delivery of varied infrastructure, regeneration and environmental projects<\/li>\n<li>Experience in overseeing, and\/or project managing multidisciplinary projects<\/li>\n<li>Experience of supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team<\/li>\n<li>Experience of team working to support the delivery of projects<\/li>\n<li>Experience of financial accountability for projects and delivery of projects within budget<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Town Planner, who is up for the challenge of infrastructure delivery to join our expanding town planning team.
