We offer opportunities for significant career advancement, attractive remuneration, and flexible working, as well as leadership and client relationship role development.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking a Principal or Senior Land Quality Consultant to join our established team working across our environment, energy and defence businesses. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead on contaminated land projects and contribute to project management, client liaison, and mentoring of junior colleagues. You will help ensure our projects meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.<\/p>\n<p>We offer flexible working arrangements (a mix of office-based and home working).\u00a0This role can be based in\u00a0Harwell, Rotherham, Cumbria or Birchwood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Technical Leadership: Act as a technical authority on land quality projects, guiding investigations, risk assessments, and remediation strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Project Management: Plan and deliver projects on time and within budget, including scheduling, resource allocation, and co-ordination with clients and subcontractors.<\/li>\n<li>Client &amp; Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders, providing clear updates on project progress, risks, and potential solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all works adhere to UK environmental legislation and best practice for contaminated land management, particularly in high-hazard industrial contexts.<\/li>\n<li>Team Collaboration &amp; Mentorship: Support junior staff by offering technical guidance and feedback; foster a positive working environment that promotes knowledge sharing and professional growth.<\/li>\n<li>Business Development: Contribute to proposals and bids, identifying opportunities to expand our land quality services and strengthen client relationships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Here&#8217;s What You&#8217;ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Below are the qualifications and experience that we\u2019re seeking in applicants. We understand that not everyone will meet every single requirement, so if you believe you have most of the relevant experience and strong potential to succeed in this role, we\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contaminated Land Experience: Demonstrable (5+ Years) experience in the investigation and remediation of contaminated land, with strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) for human health and controlled waters. Experience of applying the Environment Agency\u2019s Remedial Targets Methodology would be advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant UK legislation, including Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act and Environmental Permitting Regulations, and experience applying the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Code of Practice (DoWCoP).<\/li>\n<li>Project Delivery: Proven record of successfully delivering medium-sized projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and team co-ordination.<\/li>\n<li>Education: Degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Engineering or a related subject (MSc or higher desired).<\/li>\n<li>Professional Qualifications: Progress towards (or attainment of) a relevant chartership (e.g., CGeol, CEnv) and\/or Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC) accreditation is advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Communication &amp; Interpersonal Skills: Able to build rapport with clients and regulators, present complex information clearly, and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.<\/li>\n<li>HSE Focus: Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.<\/li>\n<li>Other: Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK and hold a valid UK driving licence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced consultant looking to advance in technical leadership, project management, and client-facing responsibilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amentum provides client-oriented solutions across our environment, energy, and defence businesses.
