We place them at the heart of what we do, providing challenging opportunities to develop within a great team in a supportive environment that allows them to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities of the Role<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure EHS management systems for all the projects are implemented and maintained<\/li>\n<li>Adherence to the project &amp; Mercury Engineering Safety Management system<\/li>\n<li>Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health &amp; Safety statutory provisions &amp; legislation<\/li>\n<li>Adherence to Mercury Engineering &amp; PSCS Environmental, Health &amp; Safety Plans.<\/li>\n<li>Coordination in the development of task specific method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of action and permit to work.<\/li>\n<li>Compliance with the project safety statement.<\/li>\n<li>Coordination of project safety indicators.<\/li>\n<li>Good Safety Practices are managed &amp; maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments, control of hazardous substances.<\/li>\n<li>Safety interventions are completed &amp; registered.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out regular site audits and inspection, document reports and establish corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence and continuous improvements<\/li>\n<li>Attend and provide input at site meetings, report on EHS risks, trends and recommend constructive actions towards continuous improvements<\/li>\n<li>Good safety practices are managed &amp; maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Provide advice and guidance in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives and employees<\/li>\n<li>Records of statutory inspections are available for project activities, tool and plant.<\/li>\n<li>Adopt a Proactive approach to project EHS requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Provide Safety input to site management &amp; at site EHS forums.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure project sub-contractor adhere to project EHS policies &amp; procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Mercury Engineering site induction &amp; training is coordinated, managed &amp; maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Project PPE is resourced &amp; available.<\/li>\n<li>Compile &amp; carry out Toolbox talks, as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Assist or carry out accident investigation reports in a timely manner &amp; ensure communication to Mercury Engineering project management.<\/li>\n<li>Welfare &amp; Hygiene facilities are in place, managed &amp; maintained.<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with site Project Management on environmental, health &amp; safety issues.<\/li>\n<li>Up to date documentation is included with the Safety File.<\/li>\n<li>Waste reduction and recycling programmes are maintained in line with project pol-icies &amp; procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Align site practices with ISO 45001 OH&amp;S management principles (leadership, worker participation, hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, continual improvement).<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with appointed SiGeKo and ensure Baustellenverordnung (BaustellV) requirements are met (e.g., SiGe-Plan, prior notice thresholds, special risk works).<\/li>\n<li>Apply DGUV accident prevention rules and TRGS guidance for hazardous substances; ensure compliance with Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV) and local CLP\/labeling requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Use digital reporting tools for leading indicators (near misses, observations), EHS dashboards, and traceable action tracking within the Common Data Environment (CDE).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Criteria for the Role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental, Health &amp; Safety (or equivalent) with minimum 3 years\u2019 site EHS experience.<\/li>\n<li>Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Experience implementing EHS management systems, conducting audits\/inspections, delivering inductions\/toolbox talks, and leading incident investigations.<\/li>\n<li>Competent in risk assessment, method statements, permit-to-work, and control of hazardous substances (COSHH\/TRGS\/GefStoffV).<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication and IT skills; ability to work on own initiative and influence site teams and subcontractors.<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility in working patterns where necessary; proactive approach to continuous improvement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable Criteria for the Role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NEBOSH\/IOSH certification or equivalent; ISO 45001 Lead Auditor and\/or ISO 14001 understanding.<\/li>\n<li>SiGeKo training or proven collaboration with SiGeKo on multi-employer construction sites.<\/li>\n<li>First Aid (incl. CPR) and Fire Warden certifications; Temporary Works awareness.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with root-cause analysis methodologies (e.g., ICAM\/TapRooT) and behavioral safety programs.<\/li>\n<li>EHS experience on data center or other mission-critical projects in Germany\/EU; German language proficiency is an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with digital EHS platforms, mobile inspections, and reporting dashboards (e.g., Power BI) within project CDEs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mercury is the European leader in construction solutions.\u00a0 We build and manage complex engineering &amp; construction projects for the world\u2019s leading corporations.
