{"id":16231,"date":"2026-05-22T00:30:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T12:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobtek.eu\/stanowisko\/technical-director-substations-uk\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T02:30:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T00:30:20","slug":"aecom-technical-director-substations-uk-bristol-wielka-brytania","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobtek.eu\/en\/stanowisko\/aecom-technical-director-substations-uk-bristol-wielka-brytania\/","title":{"rendered":"Technical Director &#8211; Substations UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>About our Team<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Transmission &amp; Distribution (T&amp;D) Engineering team provides a range of services from the initial concept through Power Systems Analysis, Cabling, Substations, Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure, System Balancing and Compensation, Protection Systems, SCADA, Communications, Converter Station Design, HVDC Systems and Interconnectors including overseas links.<\/p>\n<p>In this leadership role, you will be a key member of our Transmission &amp; Distribution team dedicated to engaging with our clients and directly contributing to the successful delivery of groundbreaking and technically challenging Substation design projects encompassing the T&amp;D projects.<\/p>\n<p>This is a Technical Director level role in combination with integrated project management and delivery to support the growth of our UK &amp; Ireland T&amp;D practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll do:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Substation engineers and technical specialists.<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic and technical leadership in the design, development, and implementation of HV Substation design, including the establishment of technical standards, procedures, and best practices.<\/li>\n<li>Review and approve engineering deliverables such as complex designs, reports, proposals, presentations and drawing packages.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical expertise in bids and proposals and represent the Company in client meetings as a senior member of the Substations team, applying your experience and expertise to a range of exciting and interesting projects.<\/li>\n<li>Take responsibility for assigned project scope, technical delivery, and client engagement for Substation scope within projects.<\/li>\n<li>You will have the opportunity to be involved in large programmes of work like Great Grid Upgrade (GGP) projects.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs, technical specifications, and construction packages.<\/li>\n<li>Provide expert technical evaluations and offer problem-solving solutions to different team members. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ready to push the limits of what\u2019s possible?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s what we\u2019re looking for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Significant experience in UK development-related infrastructure engineering; likely from a private\/consultancy background.<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering degree with significant experience in Substation design engineering, supporting utility clients, with involvement in projects related to one or more of the following facility types: electrical transmission and distribution, onshore wind, solar energy, BESS and electrical substations<\/li>\n<li>Proposal\/Bid development experience, including leading multi discipline proposals to completion.<\/li>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of HV Substation design engineering principles. Significant experience designing HV infrastructure at concept and FEED and detailed design stages.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of electrical AC HV Plant infrastructure and equipment both AIS and GIS.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of design &amp; site construction review, the role is primary plant focused, but knowledge and understanding of secondary system design will be advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Working experience with the National Grid projects is advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Chartership &amp; Lead CDAE\/CDAE\/TP141 certifications are advantageous.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We celebrate diversity, including neurodiversity, and believe it enriches our team.
