The position is suited to someone who will be able to mentor less experienced staff as well as undertake projects of all sizes from conception to completion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Front end engineering and design consulting skills. It may require global client interaction as well. This is not a back office role and may include some travel.<\/li>\n<li>Leading by example, value engineering, knowledge of modern computational methods and technology along with operation control skills are desired.<\/li>\n<li>Integration with other disciplines and leading the Structural design team to develop technically sound structural design solutions conforming to international standards and best practices whilst maintaining a high level of checking of work being issued.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss and understand complete scope of work and the specific project requirements and organize a team to execute the work in a given time frame.<\/li>\n<li>Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.<\/li>\n<li>Appreciation of Integrated Project Delivery approach and technologies like BIM (Building information Management) are desired.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.<\/li>\n<li>Take responsibility for the preparation of structural calculations.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake structural analysis and design using both computer &amp; hand techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the independent technical review of analyses prepared by others<\/li>\n<li>Assist in the management of project delivery in order to provide clients with results on time and budget<\/li>\n<li>Undertake structural design of structures using current British Standards and Eurocodes<\/li>\n<li>Have a desire to learn new skills and the ability to consider the wider engineering issues related to the work being undertaken<\/li>\n<li>The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role on structural engineering design for MOD and Defence-related projects, managing engineers, graduates and technicians as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High level of understanding of structural analysis packages<\/li>\n<li>Experienced in use of a commercially available design software packages and Finite Element Software (e.g. Tekla Building Designer, Tedds, SCIA etc)<\/li>\n<li>Able to decide on the level of reliance and accuracy to attach to results of computer analysis and to interpret results into practical engineering solutions<\/li>\n<li>Ability to use CAD\/Revit (would be advantageous)<\/li>\n<li>Good communication including Microsoft Office packages<\/li>\n<li>Good understanding of project finances<\/li>\n<li>Ability to mentor other staff<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate using hand drawn sketches.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable track record in the preparation of designs contributing to the delivery of client projects<\/li>\n<li>Able to work on a number of projects simultaneously<\/li>\n<li>Extensive experience on working in Structural Engineering design projects.<\/li>\n<li>Preferable experience of design in commercial, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, Pharma\u2019 projects using latest design and construction technologies. Design of large Healthcare and Airport Projects will be an added value.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the design of the heavy and medium industrial steel structures will be added plus.<\/li>\n<li>Must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regs etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Masters degree in an appropriate Civil or Structural engineering discipline<\/li>\n<li>Bachelors degree in an appropriate Civil or Structural engineering discipline<\/li>\n<li>Chartered Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers or actively working towards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job Description AECOM are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join their busy Manchester team.
