As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high-performing Mechanical Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.<\/p>\n<p>We are inviting expressions of interest from talented mechanical engineers at all levels, from Consultant through to Associate Director, who want to play a meaningful role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.<\/p>\n<p>This is a rare opportunity to join at a key stage of our UK growth journey, helping to establish, shape and expand a Mechanical engineering capability built on Egis\u2019 global infrastructure expertise and long-term commitment to the sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute\/lead mechanical design packages, covering feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline and detailed design across major UK water\/wastewater programmes (e.g. AMP8, WINEP, SROs, etc).<\/li>\n<li>Lead and deliver mechanical design for water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including development of P&amp;IDs, equipment sizing calculations, specifications, datasheets, schedules and procurement documentation for assets such as pumps, tanks, pipework, lifting systems and associated plant.<\/li>\n<li>Attending site visits for data acquisition and meeting site operators<\/li>\n<li>Discussions and liaison with technology providers and vendors<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to design risk management activities (e.g. HAZOP\/SWIFT) and provide mechanical input to commissioning strategies and performance testing where required.<\/li>\n<li>Provide design support during delivery phases, including reviewing contractor submissions, answering design queries, and supporting handover\/ commissioning activities when required.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to business development and work winning: identify opportunities, shape scopes, contribute to bids.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to recruitment, team development, mentoring and skills development efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"jobad-qualifications\"><strong>What do we need from you<\/strong><\/div>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BEng\/MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.<\/li>\n<li>Chartered Engineer, CEng (or working towards chartership, grade dependent) with a recognised institution (e.g., IMechE or similar).<\/li>\n<li>Experience in delivering mechanical engineering design (ideally in the UK Water industry), including taking a lead role on a project or significant work package.<\/li>\n<li>Strong practical experience in preparing and reviewing mechanical design deliverables such as calculations, specifications, reports, datasheets, schedules, drawings and procurement documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience delivering mechanical designs within the water utilities sector, including treatment facilities, pumping systems and associated plant.<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge of UK water industry standards, regulatory expectations, and safety-by-design\/CDM as applied to treatment facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in a consultancy environment or engineering company or other relevant industry acting as Mechanical Engineer.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating your work with other discipline areas whilst managing your own \/your team\u2019s work to tight programme and budget constraints.<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to prepare high quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to a high level of quality assurance for a variety of audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to travel and visit operational works and construction sites as required, to act in a safe manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in water reuse\/recycling, bioresources\/sludge treatment, energy from waste design<\/li>\n<li>Experience leading on BD\/work-winning contribution (or strong demonstrable aptitude): opportunity shaping, bid inputs, client development, and service-line growth.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with people management: building teams, hiring and mentoring, and setting a positive, delivery-focused culture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note that you must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this position.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s in It for You?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An exciting new growth role in a fast\u2011organic growing UK business, offering clear and accelerated career progression<\/li>\n<li>Top Employers 2025 &#8211;\u00a0Egis recognised across four continents for excellence in HR practices, having been awarded\u00a0the prestigious Top Employer 2025 certification.\u00a0Top Employers Institute is the global authority on recognising excellence in people practices.<\/li>\n<li>A global leader in green infrastructure &#8211;
