Working at the forefront of the energy transition, you\u2019ll be responsible for electrical engineering deliverables spanning the full project lifecycle \u2014 from early-stage electrical system design through to offshore and onshore substations, grid connection infrastructure, wind turbines, power system studies and support in grid compliance process.<\/p>\n<p>This is an opportunity to contribute to a portfolio of industry-leading <strong>onshore and offshore<\/strong> wind development, helping drive innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence across our growing portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also champion value and innovation within the team, identifying and implementing new technologies, engineering solutions, and best practices that improve asset performance, optimise project delivery, and reduce lifecycle costs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You will<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deliver electrical engineering design activities including developing and managing electrical contract documentation such as substation and electrical balance of plant specifications, scopes, and Works Information.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare, review, and update technical specifications for substations and wind turbines and associated electrical equipment while ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and quality requirements through contractor and supplier design reviews.<\/li>\n<li>Support successful project delivery by attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) for major electrical components and electrical systems across complex onshore and offshore developments.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, external stakeholders, and supply chain partners to coordinate engineering activities and support project execution.<\/li>\n<li>Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practice within the Electrical Engineering function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You have<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A degree in Electrical Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (or progress toward chartership) with a relevant professional institution, alongside strong experience in substation layout design, primary plant specifications, and testing up to 400kV.<\/li>\n<li>Strong technical knowledge and practical experience within renewable energy generation, onshore or offshore wind, or electricity transmission infrastructure, including substations, primary plant, and protection systems.<\/li>\n<li>A solid understanding of engineering legislation, industry standards, and engineering best practice relevant to substations and associated electrical systems.<\/li>\n<li>Commercial awareness with the ability to understand the wider project and business implications of engineering decisions within complex infrastructure developments.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external contractors, plus a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within Central Scotland and project locations as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong>About SSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SSE\u2019s purpose is to be restless every day until we make electricity clean, affordable and available for all.<\/p>\n<p>We do this by developing, building, operating and investing in electricity infrastructure and businesses needed in the energy transition.
