You will enjoy reinforcing your technical skills when working on the most complex buildings of a Nuclear Power Plant, cultivating strong working relationships in a multi-cultural environment to deliver outstanding results for our clients.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will provide structural mechanics design activities on major nuclear projects, such as Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and other nuclear projects. This role involves advanced finite element analysis, structural assessments, and design work for reinforced concrete (RC) and steel structures under various loading conditions, including seismic, blast, and impact.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide\u00a0structural mechanics design activities for nuclear projects, ensuring all designs meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and CDM regulations<\/li>\n<li>Perform advanced finite element analysis (FEA) on RC and steel structures, addressing seismic, impact, blast, and other load cases.<\/li>\n<li>Develop, review, and validate detailed design documents, specifications, and calculation reports.<\/li>\n<li>Utilise FEM software such as Code-Aster, Ansys, LS-Dyna, and others for design and analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including international research institutes and laboratories, to integrate complex technical solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with clients to provide technical updates, reports, and build strong professional relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in project management duties, including monitoring budgets, schedules, and ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to technical seminars and training sessions for the UK team on advanced FEA calculation to enhance team capabilities and knowledge sharing.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to R&amp;D activities to advance design methodologies and tools within the nuclear sector.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the interface lead for the mechanical structures of pools and liners within the Nuclear Island buildings<\/li>\n<li>Quality Checks: Implement rigorous quality control processes to ensure designs are accurate and compliant. Promote a &#8220;right first time&#8221; culture within the team.<\/li>\n<li>Nuclear Safety Culture: Uphold and promote nuclear safety culture within all project activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>ISO 19443 Compliance:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Ensure the team follows the requirements outlined in ISO 19443, maintaining a robust quality management system for nuclear structural design projects.<\/li>\n<li>Deadline and Responsiveness: Ensure project milestones and deadlines are met. Maintain responsiveness to project needs and client requests.<\/li>\n<li>Cost and Schedule Assessment: Collaborate with the contract team to provide accurate cost and schedule assessments. Track project progress and facilitate financial and contractual negotiations with the client.<\/li>\n<li>Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with nuclear industry standards and regulations, including ISO 19443, ETC-C, Eurocode, ONR regulations, as well as CDM requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"jobad-qualifications\"><strong>What do we need from you<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in structural mechanics design for nuclear projects.<\/li>\n<li>Expertise in advanced FEA using relevant software such as Code-Aster, Ansys, LS-Dyna, and others.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with BIM\/CAD tools like Tekla Structure, HyperMesh, and AutoCAD.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex projects.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of nuclear industry standards and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client liaison skills.<\/li>\n<li>Active involvement in professional associations and international conferences.<\/li>\n<li>Chartership status or actively working towards it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional Development:<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Egis, you will benefit from mentoring and guidance provided by technical experts in the Nuclear field.
