Responsible for conducting electrical, thermal, and coupled electro-thermal studies and related R&amp;D projects to support business objectives, providing technical support and guidance across the R&amp;D function and to other teams, where appropriate. Working closely with other members of the R&amp;D team to strengthen the company\u2019s position in the marketplace, reduce costs, improving quality and increase its product and capabilities portfolio.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1007\" data-end=\"1010\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1031\"><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"2297\">\n<li data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1568\">\n<p data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1205\">At expert level providing technical leadership and services regarding electro-thermal analysis for the MV\/HV cable product groups. This may include but is not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1568\">\n<li data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1278\">\n<p data-start=\"1210\" data-end=\"1278\">Leading, managing, delivering and documenting specific R&amp;D projects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1281\" data-end=\"1354\">\n<p data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1354\">The development and maintenance of cable rating strategies and methods.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1417\">\n<p data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1417\">Setting standards for technical reports and documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1490\">Conducting appropriate scientific calculations and analysis studies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1568\">\n<p data-start=\"1495\" data-end=\"1568\">Liaising with internal &amp; external clients and suppliers (as appropriate).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1570\" data-end=\"1931\">\n<p data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1735\">To provide technical support and guidance to the wider R&amp;D team and others (as appropriate) throughout the life cycle of the product, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"1931\">\n<li data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"1803\">\n<p data-start=\"1740\" data-end=\"1803\">Technical risk identification and client specification reviews.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1806\" data-end=\"1863\">\n<p data-start=\"1808\" data-end=\"1863\">Non-conformances \/ Design rule and project concessions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"1931\">\n<p data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1931\">Complex client technical queries\/calculation\/analysis requests.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1933\" data-end=\"2115\">\n<p data-start=\"1935\" data-end=\"2115\">Responsible for supporting, and where appropriate leading, the development and integration of new technologies, templates, calculations and tools to improve efficiency and quality.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2117\" data-end=\"2177\">\n<p data-start=\"2119\" data-end=\"2177\">On job training and mentorship of engineers at all levels.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2179\" data-end=\"2297\">\n<p data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2297\">Where appropriate and as directed, take actions to comply with the group\/team expectations to meet their objectives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"2299\" data-end=\"2302\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"2304\" data-end=\"2338\"><strong>You are meant for this job if:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2340\" data-end=\"2354\"><strong>Essential<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2356\" data-end=\"3623\">\n<li data-start=\"2356\" data-end=\"2566\">\n<p data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2566\">Degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline \u2013 preferably Electrical Engineering or Physics; a Mechanical Engineering degree for candidates with suitable post-graduate experience will also be considered.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2567\" data-end=\"2852\">\n<p data-start=\"2569\" data-end=\"2852\">Extensive relevant experience in electromagnetic and thermal analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), analytical methods, and multi-physics simulations, specifically for high voltage cable applications using industry-standard software (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) or proprietary codes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"3116\">\n<p data-start=\"2855\" data-end=\"3116\">Advanced understanding of HV cable thermal rating strategies and electromagnetic\/thermal problem-solving techniques; strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail, including proficiency in coding\/scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB or similar).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3117\" data-end=\"3234\">\n<p data-start=\"3119\" data-end=\"3234\">Strong relevant detailed knowledge of submarine cable constructions, designs, ratings, systems and their operation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3235\" data-end=\"3464\">\n<p data-start=\"3237\" data-end=\"3464\">Relevant knowledge of relevant industry standards relating to submarine cable design calculations and thermal rating including experience of interpretation and application of appropriate IEC standards and CIGRE recommendations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3465\" data-end=\"3548\">\n<p data-start=\"3467\" data-end=\"3548\">Demonstrable experience of problem solving and working in high pace environments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3549\" data-end=\"3623\">\n<p data-start=\"3551\" data-end=\"3623\">Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3625\" data-end=\"3639\"><strong>Desirable<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3641\" data-end=\"4344\">\n<li data-start=\"3641\" data-end=\"3722\">\n<p data-start=\"3643\" data-end=\"3722\">A higher degree: MEng or higher in relevant subject;
