Mechanical Engineering Summer Placement \u2013 Join Dornan and Gain Real-World Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dornan\u2019s Mechanical Engineering Summer Work Placement Programme<\/strong> offers students the chance to work on live engineering projects<\/strong> under the guidance of experienced professionals. Over the course of three months<\/strong>, you\u2019ll gain hands-on experience<\/strong> with key mechanical systems such as chilled water<\/strong>, ventilation<\/strong>, building management systems (BMS)<\/strong>, refrigeration<\/strong>, sprinklers<\/strong>, and more.<\/p>\n

This is your opportunity to apply your knowledge in a real construction environment and build valuable industry experience.<\/p>\n

    What You\u2019ll Be Doing<\/strong><\/p>\n

    During your placement, you will assist in:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Preparing reports, feasibility studies, and capital cost estimates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Developing project schedules and material take-offs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Supporting tender documentation preparation and tender analysis<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Managing and updating delivery schedules<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Handling design queries via the RFI (Request for Information) process<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Creating and monitoring project programmes using MS Project<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Producing lookahead programmes and progress reports<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Preparing method statements and risk assessments with the construction team<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Maintaining variation registers<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Preparing test packs for system completion<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Conducting quality control inspections and snagging<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Performing document control and information management<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Supporting the financial monitoring of project contracts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Coordinating with clients, contractors, and design team members<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
