{"id":7752,"date":"2025-12-19T00:32:20","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T09:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobtek.eu\/stanowisko\/principal-overhead-line-engineer-united-kingdom\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T00:00:32","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T22:00:32","slug":"mott-macdonald-principal-overhead-line-engineer-united-kingdom-newcastle-upon-tyne-wielka-brytania","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobtek.eu\/en\/?post_type=job_listing&p=7752","title":{"rendered":"Principal Overhead Line Engineer &#8211; United Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">The Transmission &amp; Distribution division are recruiting a <strong>Principal Overhead Line Engineer<\/strong> to be part of an integral team delivering large projects across the world.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> Principal OHL Engineer<\/strong> provides specialist advice, designs, reports, and delivers engineering advice and input across a portfolio of projects. \u00a0Specifically, you will manage, and complete design work associated with transmission and distribution line design.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Engineering work includes route selection, PLS-CADD modelling, structural model in PLS TOWER and PLS POLE, line schedules, stringing tables and charts, design reports, site verification, drawings, specifications and design standards. The incumbent will coordinate with the wider team for successful completion of the deliverables.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Principal OHL Engineer should be able to complete complex projects or assignments without supervision and provides technical solutions to problems with little or no precedent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform, review and approve High Voltage OHL designs complying to relevant international standards<\/li>\n<li>Ensure designs approved for delivery comply with relevant legislation, standards, policies and procedures;<\/li>\n<li>Update or create design standards and related documentation to ensure continued compliance to standards and industry best practice;<\/li>\n<li>Manage a team and mentor juniours<\/li>\n<li>Carry out studies in specialist areas such as line and foundation design, tower spotting, sag -tension, plan and profile, conductor selection, structural design of lattice towers, structural design of steel poles and wood pole design;<\/li>\n<li>Prepare, review and manage specifications, schedule, BOQ\u2019s and other design documentation;<\/li>\n<li>Provide information as required to identify the best approach for the successful completion of the project in complex multi-disciplinary issues involving other groups;<\/li>\n<li>Investigate and implement innovative design solutions to meet business and project needs;<\/li>\n<li>Provide competitive design solutions to support the achievement of MM\u2019s client objectives;<\/li>\n<li>Be proficient in the use of engineering software to prepare transmission and distribution lines designs including PLS CADD, PLS Tower, PLS Pole;<\/li>\n<li>Deliver engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and in line with company and industry best practice;<\/li>\n<li>Management of construction activities by contractor, lead project and design review meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical input into proposals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Candidate specification:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BSc or Master\u2019s degree qualification in Civil Structural Engineering or equivalent with numerous years of relevant experience;<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in writing and reviewing reports;<\/li>\n<li>Extensive Experience in an OHL engineering environment including significant scheme and project \/ design management and proven track record of scheme delivery;<\/li>\n<li>Extensive Experience in an OHL engineering environment including significant scheme and project \/ design management and proven track record of scheme delivery;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in leading a team<\/li>\n<li>Experience in being a mentor to junior staff<\/li>\n<li>Ability to chair meetings, communicate to project team and produce reports<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in leading the preparation, co-ordination and review of design drawings;<\/li>\n<li>Good working knowledge of appropriate British and International Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the design of transmission and distribution OHLs<\/li>\n<li>Prior experience in site based OHL roles.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the preparation of designs and specifications;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of HSE and CDM regulations;<\/li>\n<li>Able to perform Risk Assessments and develop mitigation strategies;<\/li>\n<li>Manage or complete Construction Design Studies (CDS) to conclude feasibility studies;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent Proficiency in the use of engineering design software including PLS-CADD (required), PLS-Tower (required), PLS-Pole (required) and AutoCAD and other design software to develop designs;<\/li>\n<li>Deep knowledge of design quality assurance processes to ensure that designs meet quality requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in the requirements and application of Safety design requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to promote a high standard of professionalism, effective communication and personal integrity within the design team;<\/li>\n<li>TP141 authorised preferrable;<\/li>\n<li>Proactive, and proficient in working with clients both internally and externally;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a team environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Transmission &amp; Distribution division are recruiting a Principal Overhead Line Engineer to be part of an integral team delivering large projects across the world.
