We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer<\/strong> to join our Transmission & Distribution (T&D)<\/strong> team. The department is responsible for project management, detailed design, and Owners\u2019 Engineer roles for electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltages\u2014both in the UK and internationally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our work focuses on large-scale grid infrastructure<\/strong>, grid connections<\/strong>, and private networks<\/strong>, with opportunities to contribute to some of the most significant energy projects worldwide. One of the key initiatives you\u2019ll be part of is the UK National Grid\u2019s Great Grid Partnership<\/strong> \u2013 a \u00a39bn enterprise program connecting clean energy to homes and businesses across England and Wales.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Develop primary plant layouts<\/strong> for HV substations.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare equipment specifications<\/strong> for HV plant and associated systems.<\/li>\n
  • Provide engineering design input<\/strong> to major infrastructure projects.<\/li>\n
  • Act as Owners\u2019 Engineer<\/strong> on HV substation, cable, and overhead line (OHL) projects.<\/li>\n
  • Deliver HV design input<\/strong> for renewable energy projects, including battery storage, solar, hydro, and wind generation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Provide professional services<\/strong> to clients in the UK, Ireland, and overseas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
    \n

    Here\u2019s what we\u2019re looking for:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Proven experience in High Voltage design projects<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Background in working with major utilities or developers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Hands-on experience as a designer or project engineer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Strong knowledge of substation control systems<\/strong>, transformers<\/strong>, GIS<\/strong>, and AIS switchgear<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work flexibly<\/strong> across multiple projects and manage priorities.<\/li>\n
    • Excellent technical report writing<\/strong> skills.<\/li>\n
    • Fluency in English<\/strong> (spoken and written).<\/li>\n
    • Full driving license<\/strong> and access to a personal vehicle (site visits may be required).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Desirable skills & experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Experience working on multi-discipline engineering projects<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Chartered Engineer<\/strong> status or working toward accreditation.<\/li>\n
      • Previous consultancy experience<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • Experience in reviewing detailed designs<\/strong> and witnessing construction site activities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
