In your new role as Project Commercial Manager<\/strong>, you will play a crucial role in enhancing project commercial outcomes<\/strong> and driving best practices in commercial management<\/strong> across the business. Leveraging your expertise in consultancy, engineering construction contracts, programme and change management<\/strong>, you will support and empower Project Managers (PMs) in all commercial aspects \u2014 mitigating risk, managing change, minimising margin loss, and fostering commercial excellence to strengthen project performance and client satisfaction.<\/p>\n

Reporting to the Commercial Manager \u2013 Water<\/strong>, and working closely with the Business Unit Operations Director<\/strong> and the commercial team<\/strong>, you will operate across multiple projects and frameworks within the Water sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

Here\u2019s what you\u2019ll do:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Collaborate:<\/strong>
Assist Project Managers, Project Directors, and Lead Verifiers in the commercial management of projects to ensure successful and profitable delivery.<\/p>\n

Provide Expertise:<\/strong>
Apply your knowledge of contract and risk management<\/strong> to enhance project outcomes. Focus on key areas including contract communications, change management, programme, delay damages, key dates, and insurances. Conduct detailed analyses of challenged projects and report on findings from both commercial and financial compliance perspectives.<\/p>\n

Ensure Quality:<\/strong>
Use contract administration platforms<\/strong> such as CEMAR<\/em> and Asite<\/em> to monitor, respond to, and act on client communications and instructions. Ensure that change is rigorously managed with a strong focus on its commercial implications and overall risk\/opportunity balance.<\/p>\n

Oversee:<\/strong>
Take part in project reviews and commercial discussions with clients and suppliers, ensuring that actions are tracked and implemented. Oversee the preparation of subcontract documents to ensure back-to-back contract compliance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mentor:<\/strong>
Coach technical staff to improve their commercial awareness<\/strong> and understanding of contract management.<\/p>\n

Deliver:<\/strong>
Work proactively to reduce disallowed costs<\/strong> and manage expenditures efficiently across AECOM and its subcontractors, subconsultants, and supply chain. Contribute to Go\/No-Go approval documents<\/strong> for new projects or major project changes.<\/p>\n

  • Water Treatment Plants<\/strong> \u2013 Design and construction of facilities ensuring safe, high-quality drinking water.<\/li>\n
  • Wastewater Treatment Plants<\/strong> \u2013 Development of systems to treat wastewater before safe environmental discharge.<\/li>\n
  • Flood Risk Management<\/strong> \u2013 Implementation of flood defence systems such as levees, floodwalls, and stormwater solutions.<\/li>\n
  • Water Supply Systems<\/strong> \u2013 Planning and building infrastructure for clean water distribution, including pipelines and reservoirs.<\/li>\n
  • Hydraulic Modelling<\/strong> \u2013 Using advanced modelling tools to simulate and optimise water system performance.<\/li>\n
  • River and Coastal Engineering<\/strong> \u2013 Protecting and enhancing riverbanks and coastlines through sustainable engineering.<\/li>\n
  • Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS)<\/strong> \u2013 Designing systems to manage urban runoff and reduce environmental impact.<\/li>\n
  • Desalination Projects<\/strong> \u2013 Developing facilities to convert seawater into potable water for water-scarce regions.<\/li>\n
  • Water Resource Management<\/strong> \u2013 Creating sustainable strategies for water use, conservation, and quality monitoring.<\/li>\n
