This role will play a critical part in shaping early project strategy, ensuring design clarity, and de-risking complex schemes at tender stage.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, an understanding of constructability, and an ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across demanding timelines.<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"574\" data-end=\"594\">Key Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"1418\">\n<li data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"692\">Degree-qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Building Services, or Construction Management<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"693\" data-end=\"820\">Minimum 8\u201312 years\u2019 experience in design management, technical delivery, preconstruction, or multidisciplinary coordination<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"957\">Proven experience working on complex projects such as mission-critical, pharma, industrial, residential, or data centre environments<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"1056\">Demonstrable capability in managing consultant design teams and specialist subcontractor input<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1057\" data-end=\"1181\">Strong understanding of procurement routes: Design &amp; Build, PCSA, novation, OFCI\/CFCI, and multi-package delivery models<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1324\">Comfortable interrogating drawings, challenging assumptions, and steering design solutions in line with commercial and programme realities<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1418\">Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills with a calm, grounded approach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting to the Bid Director, your key responsibilities for the role will include, but not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1563\">Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"2571\">\n<li data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1652\">Lead and coordinate all preconstruction design activities during tender development<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1653\" data-end=\"1765\">Interpret client briefs, RFP\/RFT requirements, and early design information into robust, buildable solutions<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1766\" data-end=\"1884\">Act as the technical lynchpin between architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal departments<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"1991\">Conduct design reviews focused on constructability, compliance, logistics, sequencing, and cost impact<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1992\" data-end=\"2100\">Identify design gaps, technical risks, and assumptions; develop mitigation strategies and clarifications<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2205\">Prepare technical narratives, compliance matrices, design responses, and structured bid deliverables<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2206\" data-end=\"2293\">Engage and manage external design partners and specialist supply chain contributors<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2294\" data-end=\"2389\">Align design development with procurement strategy, programme, and long-lead considerations<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2390\" data-end=\"2494\">Uphold quality, governance, and regulatory standards (BCAR, DAC, fire, building regs, EU compliance)<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2495\" data-end=\"2571\">Support design handover into PCSA \/ contract award phases where required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong data-start=\"2573\" data-end=\"2590\">What We Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2592\" data-end=\"2956\">\n<li data-start=\"2592\" data-end=\"2703\">Opportunity to work on landmark projects with blue-chip clients across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2704\" data-end=\"2787\">Collaborative preconstruction team with strong technical and commercial support<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2788\" data-end=\"2877\">Exposure to strategic decision-making, design governance, and early delivery planning<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2878\" data-end=\"2956\">Clear pathway for progression into senior preconstruction leadership roles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Collen Construction is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Design Manager to join our expanding preconstruction and bid organisation.
