Key Responsibilities
Technical & Operational Management

Oversee daily technical operations of mission equipment on assigned vessels.

Ensure all systems are maintained in accordance with class requirements, maritime regulations, and company standards.

Monitor performance through Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
Maintenance & Repair Coordination

Plan and follow up on inspections, dry-dockings, and major repairs with the main focus on Mission Equipment.

Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely execution of work.

Review technical specifications and evaluate cost estimates.
Budget & Procurement

Prepare annual technical budgets for mission equipment (CAPEX and OPEX).

Advise Vessel Superintendents on technical purchases and service orders in line with company policies.

Monitor cost efficiency and inventory management.
Compliance & Safety

Ensure full compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and client requirements.

Conduct technical inspections and audits to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
-
Promote a strong safety culture onboard and support environmental protection measures.
Crew Support & Training
-
Provide technical guidance to Chief Engineers and Deck Equipment Operators.

Actively contribute to training and certification programs for DEOs.

Support performance appraisals and competency development.
Reporting
-
Prepare technical performance reports for the Manager FS&D and Vessel Superintendents.

Investigate technical failures and recommend improvement actions.

Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repair activities.
Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maritime Engineering (or equivalent).
-
Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience with mission equipment (preferably with SMST systems).

Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical systems.

Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and technical project coordination.
Please note: our new Technical Superintendent ME must have a sufficient understanding of the Dutch language and must be a Dutch resident (to be able to commute to our Rotterdam office).
