In your new role as Project Commercial Manager, you will play a crucial part in enhancing project commercial outcomes and driving best practices across multiple frameworks. Using your expertise in consultancy, engineering construction contracts, programme, and change management, you will support and guide Project Managers (PMs) in commercial matters — mitigating risks, managing change, minimising lost margin, and improving overall project performance and client satisfaction.
You will report to the Commercial Manager of Water and work under the direction of the Business Unit Operations Director and commercial team, supporting a range of water-related infrastructure projects.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Collaborate – Assist PMs, Project Directors, and Lead Verifiers in the commercial management of projects to ensure successful delivery.
Provide Expertise – Apply your knowledge of contract and risk management to improve project performance. Focus on key aspects such as contract communications, change management, programme, delay damages, key contract dates, and insurances. Conduct detailed analyses of challenged projects and report findings from both commercial and financial perspectives.
Ensure Quality – Use contract administration platforms (e.g., CEMAR, Asite) to manage client communications and instructions. Rigorously oversee change management processes with attention to commercial implications and risk mitigation.
Oversee – Participate in project reviews and commercial discussions with clients and suppliers. Ensure subcontract documents are prepared on a back-to-back basis to protect AECOM’s commercial position.
Mentor – Coach and guide technical staff to strengthen their commercial understanding and practices.
Deliver – Work to reduce disallowed costs and efficiently manage expenditures across AECOM and its subcontractors or supply chain. Contribute to Go/No-Go documentation for new projects or significant project changes.
