Arup are at the forefront of transformative rail around the world, helping shape tomorrow’s sustainable travel. Rail projects demand a complex mix of skills and insights – from initial strategy and economics, through to engineering, people-centred design, operations and asset management. Success depends on bringing all these elements together – brilliantly. That’s why our technical expertise is always backed by sharp strategic thinking, whether we’re optimising existing assets and services, or designing whole new railways and stations. We work for a great range of UK based and International public sector and private sector clients including Network Rail, DfT, Great British Railways, HS2 Ltd, TOCs / FOCs and Local Authorities on a wide range of rail-based solutions.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for candidates with experience and passion in developing Railway strategy, policy, planning, business cases, demand and operations. You will have the ability to confidently communicate complex problems and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences. You will have a good understanding and appreciation of railway planning and management, and a clear understanding of the inter-relationships between strategies, plans and delivery mechanisms in the UK rail industry.
