Your mission
As a Design Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, sustainability, cost, time, buildability, and appropriate quality matters.
Manage the design process to ensure that the design solution developed for each element of the depot is safe, efficient to build, compliant with the contract specification, and delivered to schedule within budget.
Promote the use of engineering expertise and modern methods of construction to add value to design development.
Implement 3D design delivery strategy to inform and deliver the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements.
Input into internal, client, and external engineering workshops and steering groups.
Perform reviews of technical proposals.
Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks, demonstrating a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks.
Manage the design programme, monitoring and reporting via programme updates, trackers, and progress meetings.
Obtain relevant documentation and approvals from relevant bodies, designers, and stakeholders.
Interface with both Network Rail (NR) and relevant stakeholders.
Provide expert guidance and technical support, working closely with clients and project teams to identify and mitigate risks, as well as ensure compliance with all statutory, legal, and planning requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve design by considering how to enhance safety, incorporate buildability, improve quality, and deliver best-value compliant solutions.
Coordinate the entire design process, managing change, information approvals, and collaboration with clients, employer’s representatives, design teams, and legislative bodies.
Organise and chair design coordination and design progress meetings with the design team and supply chain, ensuring that design risk assessments are produced.
Prepare minutes, notes, and reports as required to ensure effective communication and accurate record-keeping.
Manage the document control process, supported by a document controller.
Maintain a professional approach with clients, professional teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Professionally qualified, preferably Chartered Engineer.
Experience in design and/or engineering management of Buildings and Rail Depot projects.
Knowledge of design procedures and standards.
Ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
Knowledge of design office workflows, with successful experience in design delivery coordination including MEP, Fire, and Security.
Broad experience of the construction process from concept and detailed design through to the practical construction phase and handover.
Good commercial understanding of contracts, procurement routes, and risk management.
Strong collaborative planning skills.
Thorough understanding of 3D design and BIM, with a passion for driving improvements through digital construction.
Excellent communication skills, both personal and formal.
Practical experience harmonising design and quality requirements with buildability, with a strong desire to problem-solve.
