Your Mission
As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commercial success of multiple projects, ensuring financial control, compliance, and collaboration across all stages of delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and mentoring a team of commercial professionals across multiple live schemes, supporting their development and ensuring high performance.
• Working closely with operations teams and support services to promote seamless coordination and project alignment.
• Participating in strategic project performance reviews, providing clear and insightful commercial input to inform decision-making.
• Overseeing all commercial activities across assigned projects, including:
  • Monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Cash flow monitoring
  • Monthly and quarterly forecasts
  • Applications for payment
  • Change management and risk control
• Ensuring full compliance with company commercial policies, processes, and best practices.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, delivering optimal commercial outcomes and fostering long-term partnerships.
• Representing the business in commercial discussions, progress meetings, and negotiations, ensuring the company’s position is effectively communicated and protected.
• Ensuring all procurement and subcontractor management activities are undertaken in accordance with company procedures.
• Providing commercial leadership during pre-construction and tender stages, offering input on pricing strategies, contract terms, and risk management.
• Managing Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects or portfolios from a commercial perspective, including thorough contract review and negotiation.

Who Are We Looking For?

Necessary:

• Proven experience managing and mentoring a commercial team, ideally across multiple projects.
• Demonstrable background in civil engineering or major infrastructure schemes.
• Strong working knowledge of the NEC form of contract.
• In-depth understanding of contractual provisions, with the ability to review, draft, and advise on key documents.
• Relevant qualification — Degree or HNC/D in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Advantageous:

• Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).
• Knowledge and experience of target cost contracts.
• Strong client-facing and collaborative approach, able to build trusted relationships.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Professional membership or progression toward CICES or RICS.
