Your Mission
As a Deputy Framework or Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting one or more Framework Managers or Project Directors in the leadership and delivery of major civil engineering projects. You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, driving project success, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism across all project activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the leadership, management, and oversight of all areas of the project, ensuring successful delivery against cost, time, quality, and safety objectives.
• Acting as a trusted deputy for the Framework Manager or Project Director, representing them in senior meetings and client Stecos where required.
• Communicating effectively and professionally with clients, stakeholders, colleagues, and the wider community.
• Providing strategic, operational, and contractual direction to the project team, ensuring alignment with business goals and client expectations.
• Setting a strong personal example in Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) performance through visible leadership and regular engagement with teams (including safety tours).
• Acting as a champion for HSQE initiatives, promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and best practices across projects.
• Driving quality-first delivery through proactive planning, effective coordination, and a right-first-time approach.
• Taking a proactive role in mentoring and developing staff, supporting the growth and capability of emerging leaders within the business.
• Leading and motivating teams to achieve high levels of commitment, collaboration, and morale.
• Promoting cost-conscious management through efficient use of resources and effective financial control.
• Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships, ensuring satisfaction and promoting repeat business opportunities.
• Overseeing the establishment and monitoring of programme-based cost management systems to enable accurate financial control and forecasting.
• Ensuring project programmes are realistic, monitored, and updated in line with contractual and operational requirements.
• Overseeing the preparation, review, and briefing of method statements, activity plans, and risk assessments, ensuring they are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed.
• Ensuring robust systems are in place for commercial and financial management across all projects.
• Supporting the appointment and management of appropriately trained and experienced staff across project teams.

What Do You Bring to the Role?

Essential:

• Degree or HND in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience working as a Project Manager (or in a similar senior leadership role) within a Civil Engineering contracting or related environment.
• Strong ability to deputise for Framework Managers or Project Directors at senior and client-facing meetings.
• Demonstrable leadership and management capabilities, including team development, resource management, and performance delivery.
• Comprehensive understanding of civil construction environments, methods of delivery, and standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC).
• Proven experience in construction or engineering project delivery from inception through to completion.
• Skilled in stakeholder relationship management at senior levels, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
• Experience managing project governance, compliance processes, and reporting frameworks.
