Your Mission
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and financial success of our projects, ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and collaboration across the delivery team. You’ll be instrumental in driving value, maintaining strong client relationships, and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining high personal safety and environmental standards in line with company policy.
• Ensuring effective communication with Project Managers, Managing Quantity Surveyors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Managing, supervising, and mentoring junior commercial staff to support their professional growth and development.
• Providing professional input during meetings with client representatives to maintain positive relationships and effective communication.
• Leading commercial engagement with supply chain partners, including tender enquiries, pre-contract meetings, bid analysis, recommendations, contract vetting, and preparation of subcontract documents.
• Overseeing commercial management of subcontractors, including interim and final payments, variations, and negotiation of final accounts.
• Monitoring site resource costs and ensuring the timely production of accurate and reliable cost performance data.
• Preparing and presenting monthly cost and value reports and quarterly financial reports to senior management.
• Participating in project performance discussions and providing commercial input into project strategy and decision-making.
• Ensuring adherence to the company’s Risk and Opportunity management protocol and advising the project team on commercial risks and mitigation strategies.
• Promoting and implementing company procedures, offering suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
• Managing change control processes, ensuring all contractual timescales and notice requirements are met.
• Preparing monthly applications for payment in accordance with contractual provisions.
• Providing commercial and contractual advice to site teams and management to support effective project delivery.
• Attending and contributing to site commercial meetings, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
• Managing personal and team time and workload effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of commercial training to project teams and site staff.

Who Are We Looking For?

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor, demonstrating strong commercial management and cost control skills.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, project managers, designers, and internal teams.
• Confident working both independently and as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude toward achieving project success.
• Strong mentorship and leadership abilities, supporting the development of others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, with solid numerical and analytical skills.

Desirable:

• Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) experience.
• Experience working with target cost contracts (e.g., NEC forms).
• Working towards CICES or an equivalent professional membership (e.g., RICS).
