As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for leading commercial activities across a range of projects, ensuring value, quality, and profitability are consistently achieved. Your key duties will include:

• Managing diverse projects, ensuring delivery meets quality, time, and cost targets while maximising value and efficiency.
• Collaborating effectively on joint venture projects, developing and maintaining productive working relationships.
• Leading contract negotiations to achieve the best commercial outcomes and enhance project profitability.
• Mentoring and developing teams, supporting colleagues to strengthen operational and commercial capability.
• Demonstrating strong collaboration and communication skills, working effectively across teams and stakeholders.
• Managing multiple deliverables simultaneously while maintaining high-quality performance.
• Supervising, guiding, and mentoring your direct reports within the commercial team.
• Setting and controlling the commercial strategy for client interactions and contract management.
• Maintaining commercial engagement with supply chain partners, leading pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input into subcontract documentation.
• Managing subcontractor performance, including cost control, payments, and final account settlements.
• Monitoring and reporting cost performance data accurately and on time.
• Producing and presenting detailed monthly and quarterly commercial reports.
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment in line with contractual provisions.
• Providing commercial and contractual advice to project teams and senior management.
• Managing and preparing financial assessments of insurance claims in collaboration with insurers.

Who Are We Looking For?

Necessary:

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, or an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to progress to the next level.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and core skills in cost management and contract administration.
• Experience with NEC forms of contract.
• Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop junior team members.
• Strong ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, project managers, and designers.
• Confident working within a team environment, with a proactive and positive attitude.
• Relevant qualification — Degree or HNC/D in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Advantageous:

• Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).
• Knowledge of target cost contracts.
• Professional membership or working towards accreditation with CICES or RICS.
