As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the technical accuracy, quality, and progress of on-site construction activities. Your main responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the preparation of as-built drawings.
Supporting the development and maintenance of effective systems to record and track work progress, updating the Project Quality Plan as necessary.
Helping to monitor progress of work against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity benchmarks.
Recording and testing workmanship and materials (e.g., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork).
Providing engineering support to overcome technical challenges and resolve queries efficiently.
Being responsible for setting out works within allowable tolerances.
Regularly checking setting-out points and benchmarks, ensuring all instruments and measuring equipment are calibrated and certified.
Completing accurate daily site diaries.
Ensuring the workforce understands and applies the setting-out information appropriate to the works being undertaken.
Assisting in the preparation and distribution of site sketches, ensuring clear communication across the team.
Supporting the implementation of the company’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System to maintain a safe working environment.
Maintaining dimensional control to guarantee accuracy of construction.
Recording and managing site instructions and maintaining the drawing register.
Who Are We Looking For?
Essential:
Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering — such as BSc, BEng, MEng, or completion of a Higher Apprenticeship.
Working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or similar professional body.
Proficient in Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & Digital Levels) for setting out and surveying.
Previous experience in a similar engineering role.
Awareness of commercial processes and Quality Management Systems.
Experience in preparing or implementing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
Strong people and project management abilities.
Effective organisational and communication skills with the ability to lead a team.
Desirable:
TWS or TWC qualification.
First Aid at Work certification.
SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
Experience in Groundworks, Earthworks, and Reinforced Concrete.
Experience working in a nuclear or highly regulated environment.
Involvement in developing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
