In this position as a District Heating Engineer, you will join our international team of experts and work on challenging and innovative projects.  You will play a key role in implementing cutting-edge district heating (and cooling) projects. Your responsibilities will include developing conceptual designs and supporting asset owners in enhancing operational efficiency.

COWI Renewables and Green Fuels, which we are part of, has offices in Lyngby and Aarhus in Denmark and in Poland in Bielsko-Biala, Krakow, Wroclaw, Warsaw and Gdansk.

We provide consultancy to our customers on the planning, designing, and optimizing of district energy systems all around the world.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Taking a position in the design of groundbreaking low carbon district heating (and cooling) projects.
• Undertaking design tasks, including feasibility studies, heat network zoning, hydraulic and energy modelling, as well as creating technical designs and specifications.
• Assisting in the development of peers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and technical expertise.
• Actively engaging with the team and establishing yourself as a dependable and trustworthy member.
• Carry out modelling district heating and cooling systems with specialized software.
• Develop plans and strategies in collaboration with clients and provide consultancy to run daily operations.

On top of that, you have:

• Master’s degree in thermal engineering, environmental engineering, mechanics or applied physics along with 6 or more years of experience in the district energy sector.
• Broad engineering knowledge in conceptual designing of low carbon district heating (and cooling) systems, encompassing heat generation and storage, distribution, and building connections, throughout the various design phases.
• Expertise in conducting techno-economic modelling of district heating (and cooling) systems.
• Technical proficiency in hydraulic simulation and energy planning tools such as Termis, Leanheat, EnergyPro, Gradyent, Fluidit NetSim, etc will be an additional advantage
• Excel proficiency: to be able to develop and improve in-house calculation models
• Some experience with GIS, SCADA, billing systems databases e.g. MS SQL, Oracle is good to have.
• Fluency in the English language, both written and verbal (B2/C1).
• Ability to solve complex problems.
• Willingness to undertake short business trips abroad.
