R&D / Lead Project Engineer – Metocean & Buoy Systems in Houten NOWOŚĆ

We are looking for a technically skilled and hands-on R&D / Lead Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire technical lifecycle of our metocean buoy systems—from mechanical design and engineering to build coordination, deployment, and improvement campaigns.

Your main focus will be on the design and operation of buoy systems for Accurasea. Once these systems are operational, you will also support Aqua Vision’s hydrometric and metocean projects, providing technical expertise in the development and deployment of measurement systems, frames, and instrumentation setups.

This is a diverse position that combines technical development and practical execution, working closely with both workshop and field teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the technical execution of build, maintenance, and improvement activities for floating metocean and LiDAR buoy systems.
• Design and document mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks, including mechanical calculations and FEM analyses when necessary.
• Coordinate the fabrication and integration of systems, supervise suppliers, and ensure quality and compliance.
• Support Aqua Vision’s field measurement projects by preparing and maintaining mechanical systems, buoy structures, and seabed frames.
• Perform testing and commissioning activities in the workshop, at the quayside, or occasionally onboard vessels.
• Translate operational experience into design improvements and document lessons learned.
• Contribute to project planning, cost control, and progress reporting.
• Coach and guide junior engineers or technicians as needed.

What do we expect from you?

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Proven experience using SolidWorks for mechanical design and documentation.
• Strong practical skills in assembly, testing, and maintenance of mechanical or marine systems.
• Affinity or experience with metocean measurement systems, mooring designs, or buoy operations.
• Solid understanding of structural mechanics and marine materials.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch is strongly preferred due to workshop and supplier collaboration.
