As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will work on technology that is literally in motion. Think of container cranes that are a hundred metres high, the movable roof of the Johan Cruijff ArenA or offshore wind platforms in the middle of the sea. You will design and calculate components that must continue to function under harsh conditions.
In infrastructure and water, you will work on movable bridges, locks, pumping stations and water treatment plants. You will design drives and moving parts that must function reliably every day. In offshore projects, you will work on hoisting equipment and mechanical components for wind platforms. In industry, you will design structures for factories and process installations. And in the maritime sector, you will contribute to the mechanics of submarines and naval vessels.
You will develop designs from concept to detail. You will perform strength, stiffness and fatigue calculations, check for compliance with standards and contribute ideas about manufacturability and maintenance. You will coordinate with colleagues from various disciplines, such as civil engineering, electrical engineering and process technology. You will see how your design becomes part of a larger whole.
