Assist and lead in the management of Site Safety in conjunction with the project team and Mercury Safety management.
Supervising and overseeing project direction, as Senior Construction Manager, keep track of the project’s progress and ensure the construction work meets the client’s specifications and requirements. Review project timelines and update Project PM and Project Director on the progress and deviations from the projections.
Manage and ensure that there is always safe access and egress to all areas of the project, and that there will be no disruption or delay to any works due to items not being in place.
Responsible for ensuring that all temporary lighting, water supply and power is in place ahead of works progressing and ensuring it is maintained during the lifetime of the project.
Responsible for ensuring that there is a 360-degree walkway, where appropriate on the project, that it gets adapted as site needs require, that it is maintained and that all site personnel always have safe access and egress. This will include appropriate signage in place also.
Responsible for the issuing of weekend and late working roster to the site team. Monitoring of rotations ensuring suitable supervision is in place.
Ensure Logistics Manager chairs and record minutes & Attendances of weekly logistics meeting with Subcontractors and vendors.
A clear and accurate daily diary must be kept for all activities, happenings on the project. A daily photographic log must also be kept on BIM 360.
Selection of construction plant/materials for use by Mercury Team and its Subcontractors to be organised and ensuring they have the necessary equipment and tools to facilitate the install of these works. Ie. Mewps, hand tools etc. Non exhaustive.
Own and chair all DAB’s meetings and issue reports.
Own and chair all Whiteboard meetings and issue reports.
Attend and liaise with Project Planner at all collab planning meetings.
Play a lead role in the management of Site QA in conjunction with Mercury QA Manager.
Requirement to be cost conscious and be mindful of all budgets on the project.
Support in the oversight of all day-to-day site operations.
Manage all subcontractor interfaces on the project to ensure there are no gaps or impediments to their works and the logistics of same.
The Logistics Manager & Multiservice Gang will be reporting into you, and you must ensure that you have daily meetings with them for effective coordination of activities on the project.
Ensure that cranes, plant, equipment, and deliveries etc. are strategically positioned so as not to disrupt any works on the project and that any preparation works are completed ahead of their arrival.
Management of sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels.
Liaising with all Municipality Personnel and their visits to the project and ensuring a log is kept of such visits and issues raised, and the timely close out of the issues raised.
Main point of contact between Mercury and Client Operations Team.
Attend all relevant meetings between client/client representatives &PM/Operations
Ensure that there is a weekly minuted meeting with sub-contractor and Mercury’s Package owners.
Ensure that all permits/SOPs are in place ahead of construction activities, to ensure no delay to the contract works.
Oversee construction workers, contractors, and subcontractors. Direct work activities and motivate employees effectively to accomplish the project goals.
Assist in the management of the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system ensuring that the supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable in support of the QAQC Manager.
Ensure direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours are reported to administrator for tracking centrally.
Ensure the warehouse/off site storage is maintained correctly and that operatives operating from the warehouse conduct their duties in line with Mercury processes & procedures.
Ensuring the site is clean, secure, and presented well.
Ensuring that no phase of the works is held up due to building not being weathertight and that there is no risk to any equipment delivered and placed within the building.
Drive the Mercury Engineering culture of safety and quality through the project.
Provide the safety and quality leadership required.
Assist in projected labour projections from the field supervisors.
Assist with the commercial team to ensure all variations are being captured and costs issued to the client.

Essential Criteria for the Role:
A minimum of 5 years as a Senior Construction Manager
Good strong knowledge of the full design and construction process
Ability to control and manage people and programs
A trade background or a relevant third level qualification
Proven record of co-ordinating and managing large projects
