The Project HSE Advisor will fulfil a senior role within the Project Team, empowered to assist the Project Manager in ensuring safe and efficient execution of the project work scope, including management of HSE resources.
Job Scope
The HSE Advisor will provide HSE advice, guidance and support to Project Teams and other departments within the business unit and be the focal point with the client on all HSE matters. This will include leading and implementation of key risk management processes, including continual monitoring of ongoing operations to ensure compliance with internal processes, industry best practice, legislative and client specific requirements. The HSE Advisor will actively monitor HSE performance, identifying trends and develop proactive or reactive safety initiatives where required. The role will be based in Aberdeen with some requirement for travel and offshore work.
Job Description
Main accountabilities:
Provide HSE advice, guidance and support to projects, departments, worksite and subcontractor personnel, ensuring compliance with internal processes, legislative, industry best practice and client-specific requirements.
Encourage and promote a positive attitude towards HSE awareness and risk management, including reporting of HSE issues and communication of and participation in TechnipFMC behavioural-based safety programs.
Assist in the development of HSE objectives and the review and revision of HSE-related processes and procedures at a corporate level.
Develop and implement relevant project HSE documentation, including Emergency Response documentation, ensuring alignment with the HSE Management System.
Monitor effectiveness of project HSE and ER documentation throughout the project life cycle.
Engage early in the engineering process, attend methodology and operations reviews, and identify opportunities to eliminate risk where possible.
Develop, chair and participate in the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment process.
Identify and advise on project-specific training requirements.
Implement environmental procedures, ensuring all environmental aspects have been identified and mitigation plans are in place.
Implement occupational health procedures, ensuring all OH aspects have been identified and mitigation plans are in place.
Carry out corporate and project HSE audits, prepare project-specific audit schedules and terms of reference, record audits in the Synergi system and follow up to ensure effective closure of findings.
Liaise with the client on project HSE matters, including chairing regular HSE engagement meetings.
Manage subcontractors to ensure compliance with required HSE standards.
Attend vessel mobilisations, present safety briefings, and engage in safety conversations with vessel personnel.
Participate in HSE accident, incident and near-miss investigations, identify corrective and preventative actions, and track them to closure.
Develop safety-related communications such as Storyboards, One Pagers, Safety Flashes, ISNs, etc.
Prepare weekly and monthly project, corporate and client HSE performance reports.
Actively monitor HSE performance, including subcontractors, identify trends and develop proactive and reactive safety campaigns or improvement initiatives.
Additional Job Description
Develop and deliver HSE awareness training.
Maintain a project-specific HSE Action Tracker.
Proactively interface with key internal stakeholders, including the Engineering Department, Operations Department, and Marine Operations.
Support delivery of a detailed assurance process for TechnipFMC and third-party vessels and equipment.
Assist with maintenance of the company legal register.
Prepare HSE deliverables, to a high standard, for tender submissions.

Must have:
A recognised HSE qualification; qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level, Postgraduate in related field, or equivalent.
A recognised HSE qualification, NEBOSH NGC or equivalent.
Good level of experience in a related industry.
Experience of offshore operations in the subsea construction sector.
Excellent working knowledge of UK HSE and marine legislation, and its application to onshore and subsea construction activities.
Knowledge and experience of risk assessment techniques and their implementation.
Formal auditing qualification with experience in conducting audits internally and externally.
Formal incident investigation training and experience participating in investigations and implementing lessons learned.
Full understanding of HSE Management Systems.
Strong track record in HSE delivery, including development and maintenance of systems, procedures and safety programs.
Ability to influence safety behaviours and promote a positive safety culture at all organisational levels.
Proficiency in IT systems, including safety-related software.
Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work collaboratively.
Offshore survival and medical certification and commitment to continuous self-development.
Nice to have:
Qualification to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
Active membership of a recognised professional body for safety and health (e.g. IOSH).
Experience in delivering HSE training and Behavioural Based Safety training.
Formal mentoring and coaching qualification.
