THE POSITION

TCSUK is undergoing rapid growth following its acquisition by TotalEnergies. The network is expanding beyond the M25, and the number of contractors delivering services is increasing accordingly. With TotalEnergies’ strong focus on HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment), a major cultural and operational transformation is underway. The company is strengthening safety controls and management systems to ensure that all employees and contractors understand and follow safe working practices.

In this context, the HSE Advisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that all internal and external TCSUK processes are carried out safely and efficiently. The position involves fostering a positive safety culture—winning hearts and minds—so that everyone contributes to a safe, compliant, and productive environment. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement in Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) performance in line with the TCSUK and TotalEnergies strategy.

This role oversees the safety of more than 40 TCSUK employees in their daily operations and includes on-site collaboration with contractors and internal teams.

YOUR IMPACT

• Ensure all TCSUK employees and contractors understand and fulfil their HSE obligations in compliance with TotalEnergies rules and UK legislation, with particular emphasis on team leads and external partners.
• Manage the transition of TCSUK’s HSE management system to align with TotalEnergies standards, including producing required analyses and documentation.
• Develop and maintain HSE systems to ensure certification to relevant standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001, as well as any other business-relevant certifications.
• Oversee all internal and external HSE audits, including creating the annual internal audit plan for the UK.
• Actively promote a culture of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) across all teams.
• Review, update, and expand existing HSE documentation to ensure full compliance with TotalEnergies standards and any new regulatory requirements.
• Lead incident investigations, develop recommendations, and ensure corrective measures are communicated and implemented across the organisation.
• Ensure robust emergency preparedness by coordinating and managing drills for identified scenarios.
• Promote near-miss reporting and analysis, using findings to enhance prevention efforts.
• Deliver monthly safety committee meetings and report global HSE KPIs.
• Serve as the TCSUK focal point for the organisation and delivery of the annual Safety Day.
• Manage relevant departmental budgets, ensuring effective cost control and efficiency improvements.
• Represent TCSUK in industry bodies to develop best practice guidance and integrate these standards within TotalEnergies’ operations.

Contractor Management

• Support the procurement team in evaluating and selecting suppliers based on HSE performance.
• Identify risks and weaknesses within the contractor base and develop improvement plans.
• Conduct field visits and audits to ensure contractor compliance with HSE requirements.
• Participate in supplier business reviews, providing feedback on HSE performance and identifying areas for development.

ABOUT YOU

You are a proactive and confident safety professional who can engage operational teams and contractors in building a strong HSEQ culture. You combine technical expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills, enabling you to drive improvement and compliance across a fast-growing business.

You bring the following:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety role with direct engagement with front-line workers
• Membership of IOSH (Tech level) and a NEBOSH General Certificate
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey action plans clearly and confidently
